Bayer Apprenticeship Scheme

Our apprenticeship program provides early career opportunities to join one of the world’s leading Life Science companies. By joining us as an apprentice you can take advantage of the career paths available to you and set the course for your personal and professional future.

Our programme is minimum of 27 months and offers you the chance to gain hands on experience, develop excellent interpersonal skills and give you the opportunity to gain real breadth and experience in the field service function. You will take on responsibility and contribute from day one with the support of your colleagues and will be given all the training and support you need to succeed.

Mentor

You will be assigned a mentor from your function to provide guidance and support as you progress on your apprenticeship.  In addition to helping learn your new role they will be on hand to support you with your coursework.

Onboarding

You will get to know Bayer through your onboarding experience where you will be given all the information you need to make your first weeks at Bayer a success.

Functional/Soft Skill Development

As part of your apprenticeship, you will be given training to support you specifically in your role. You will also receive over the course of your program your specific personal development training.

Working in Field Service for Bayer Radiology

We are looking for a talented, passionate, self-driven and curious person. The ideal person would be a good relationship builder, problem solver and is not afraid to seek assistance from their colleagues when necessary.

The Radiology business in Bayer includes several functions, both in the UK and Maastricht, including local sales, inside sales, customer support, technical support, and clinical (to name a few). This role would involve working with all these functions to assist in the successful continuation and growth of the Radiology business.

What are we looking for?

 

  • Minimum of grade A-C / grade 4 in Maths and English GCSE level, Science A-levels preferred
  • Mandatory pre-requisite equivalent to a Level 2 engineering discipline
  • Mandatory valid passport and 1-year full clean driving licence
  • Ideal candidate would be in located in South West London within the M25 and able to work in and around London and South England
  • Be able to display a basic understanding and keen interest of electrical/mechanical engineering
  • Enthusiastic Apprentices who are good communicators, both written and oral skills
  • Someone who is curious, not afraid to offer an opinion and the ability to prioritise and use their initiative
  • The ability to work both individually and as part of a wider team
  • Ability to act with integrity in a highly compliant environment

 

Tasks and responsibilities

 

  • The position will require the engineer to attend hospital Radiology departments with trained engineers to carry out maintenance, repair and installation of Bayer medical equipment.
  • Initial responsibilities of this role will be to attain experience of field service activities, and to gain an understanding of working within the NHS and private sector healthcare environments
  • Gain an understanding of the NHS healthcare system, private sector healthcare system, and how the two models differ
  • Develop an understanding of the specifics of the field service role through close monitoring and working with a supervising engineer
  • Assist qualified engineers with the planning/scheduling and performing of on-site service support as required, including, but not limited to, preventative maintenance, breakdown repair and installations
  • Keep accurate records of all work carried out through the correct usage of the Radiology service tool
  • Accurate record keeping of service stock and calibration tools
  • Adhere to all department and company processes and compliance requirements, including the completion of regular online training courses
  • Ensure highest professional standards are met when attending appointments and site visits
