Integrated Product Team Lead for Early Assets Precision Medicine (m/f/d) 

 

The early Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) (m/f/d) acts as the single leader of the asset or cluster of assets within precision medicine spanning various therapeutic areas including Cardiovascular, Nephrology and Acute Care, leading the Integrated Product Team in setting the vision, strategic direction and ensuring implementation of a singular strategy across diverse functional groups in line with the overall portfolio strategy, with accountability from Development Candidate/Pre-IND through decision to enter pivotal study.

 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Lead the global development of a program or cluster of programs in line with portfolio strategy as well as drive program strategy, vision and purpose to develop a high value product
  • Be vested with far-reaching program-related decision powers and be responsible for the financial steering of program budget(s) as allocated by the respective governance
  • Drive strategic and quality decision making together with the cross functional IPT
  • Be responsible for generating and shaping an innovative product profile and drive decision making by creating outcome scenarios at data inflection points
  • Actively participate in an IPT cross R&D and TA communities to exchange and leverage collective experiences and knowledge to accelerate programs
  • Act as a mentor and coach (m/f/d) for IPT members, other IPTLs as well as critical functions building a strong community focused on delivering value to patients, payers, and the company
  • Be responsible for composing, shaping and maintaining a motivated and high performing IPT as well as hold team members accountable for their deliverables (influencing functions without authority to ensure optimal resourcing and effectiveness)
  • Ensure appropriate consultation of sounding boards and experts (internal and external) whenever deemed technically, operationally and/or strategically necessary

 

 

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

  • MD or MBA and/or pharmD, PhD combined with long-term relevant professional and academic experience of which several years of experience should be related to drug development in Cardiology, Nephrology, Acute Care or rare diseases
  • Deep understanding of preclinical and translational research and early clinical development in the respective area as well as proven experience in drug discovery in respective research area and modality
  • Experience in managing budgets (i.e. global program budgets)
  • Superb leadership skills (both interpersonal and organizational) in highly matrixed environment as well as strong mentoring and coaching capabilities to unlock peak performance in IPT members and peers
  • Ability to drive/influence decision making across all levels of the organization along with strong stakeholder management capabilities as well as strong network outside of Bayer (i.e., across Pharma and Academia)
  • Excellent communication, networking and negotiation skills as well as experience in leading organizations and people through change
  • Proven entrepreneurial mindset and courage to constantly challenge ways of working and status quo while striving for continuous improvement
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; command of a second major European language, ideally German
