Communications Project Specialist SSA
Position Purpose:
- Drive project management and cross-market coordination for integrated communications initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa, operating within the DSO framework.
- Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery, efficient processes, accurate EN/FR localization for Francophone West and Central Africa (WCA), and clear performance reporting across internal and external channels.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Requirements:
Project Management:
- Support leading complex, multi-market communication projects ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery with clear outcomes and stakeholder
satisfaction across SSA markets
Francophone Market Support:
- Provide specialized communication support for French-speaking West African markets, ensuring cultural relevance and linguistic accuracy in all communications
Channel and Asset Trafficking (PESO enablement):
- Orchestrate trafficking of assets across Owned (intranet/web/newsletters), Shared (social), Earned (media toolkits), and Paid (placements) in partnership with agencies.
Performance Tracking:
- Develop and maintain tracking systems that monitor project progress, communication effectiveness, and business impact across all
initiatives
Stakeholder Management:
- Coordinate communication with diverse internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear expectations and successful project
outcomes
Value added to the success of the company – Main objectives of the function:
- Enable predictable, on-time and on-budget delivery of integrated communications projects across SSA through disciplined project management and clear stakeholder coordination.
- Improve campaign quality and consistency by enforcing brand/editorial standards, accurate EN/FR localization, and culturally attuned execution for Francophone WCA markets.
- Accelerate speed-to-market by streamlining workflows, approvals, and trafficking, reducing cycle times and administrative burden on country teams.
- Increase measurable impact via robust tracking and reporting across media, social, web, and internal channels, translating data into actionable optimizations.
- Strengthen operational resilience by maintaining project risk logs, documentation, and readiness processes that support issues/crisis activation led by the communications leadership.
- Optimize value from external partners through sharp briefs, timeline discipline, asset quality control, and basic budget/PO governance.
- Enhance knowledge sharing and re-use by maintaining content inventories, templates, and playbooks that scale best practices across SSA.

Qualifications (Education, skills, experiences and personal characteristics):
- Education: preferably a university degree or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Languages: fluency in English and French is required, especially for West Central Africa (WCA) markets.
- Skills/experiences:
- 5+ years experience in project management, preferably in communications
- Native or fluent French language skills with strong English proficiency
- Strong understanding of West African business culture and communication preferences
- Project management certification preferred
- Excellent organizational and coordination abilities
