Process Manager - General Ledger 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Performs general accounting activities, including preparing, maintaining, and reconciling ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, and capital expenditure schedules. Prepares, records, analyzes, and reports accounting transactions, ensuring the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Provides financial support by forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from the budget. Analyzes and prepares statutory accounts, financial statements, and reports. Conducts or assists in documenting accounting projects.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of end-to-end process of Financial Accounting Services that includes General Ledger, Closing, Reporting and Audit Coordination co-creating with team and stakeholders
  • Facilitate Collaborative Guidance: Empower cross-functional teams by providing strategic guidance, enabling collaborative problem-solving, and fostering an environment of shared ownership and trust.
  • Engage in Expert Communities: Actively participate in and, when relevant, lead the Community of Practice for the capability area, contributing to global knowledge sharing and continuous learning across diverse channels.
  • Drive Capability Development: Assess and address knowledge and upskilling needs, fostering a culture of continual improvement and peer accountability within the capability area.
  • Strategic Liaison and Partnership: Serve as a key connector between the RFH Capability Community and the GPG Organization, ensuring transparent communication and co-creation for effective process changes. Collaborate with GPO, GEHs, and Global Operations to uphold global standards and adapt processes to local needs.
  • Ensure Compliance and Audit Readiness: Collaborate openly with business partners (e.g., Controlling, Procurement, Product Supply) to ensure robust accounting practices, support audit processes, and strengthen Internal Control Systems through shared responsibility.
  • Partner with Work Leads and Home Leads: Co-create development priorities, support dynamic talent flow, and resolve escalations through partnership and empowerment within the GBS Finance organization.
  • Participate in Strategic Projects: Contribute capability expertise to global and local projects, ensuring decisions and execution reflect product and customer focus, agility, and alignment with DSO values.
  • Represent Capability Interests: Actively engage in projects, proactively identify risks and interdependencies, and ensure capability alignment with organizational goals by encouraging open dialogue and peer collaboration.

 

KEY WORK RELATIONS

  • Internal: Head of RFH, CFO organisation, GBS Regional Finance Hub Organization (incl. Work Leads), GBS Finance LT, GPO Organization, Global Expert Hub / Global Operations, Business Functions (Controlling, Supply Chain, Plant and Site Management etc.), Internal Auditors, ICS Managers.
  • External: External Auditors.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Education: Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent education.
  • Professional Experience: +5 years of professional experience in Taxes, Accounting, Finance or Controlling.
  • Extensive knowledge of Finance systems and procedures both at a corporate level and a country/international level.
  • Thorough knowledge of global accounting and controlling standards and reporting requirements, accounting processes, internal controls and controlling concepts as well as local and global accounting policies (IFRS, local GAAP).
  • Good understanding of Bayer group businesses as well as businesses specific and internal reporting related accounting practices.
  • Ability to work successfully with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict management skills.
  • Language Skills: Strong level of English; any other language beneficial.
  • Projects: Strong Change Management capabilities and experience in project management.
  • Digital Skills / Applications: Expertise with enterprise-wide business systems through knowledge of ERP (SAP FI, CO, S4HANA) and BI systems and proficiency of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Co-creation/Collaboration: Proactively connects and empowers diverse teams and expert communities to co-create solutions, share knowledge, and deliver value through trust, transparency, and shared ownership.
  • Communication: Inspires through clear, strategic communication; coaches others.
  • Adaptability: Champions change, leads transformation initiatives.
  • Accountability: Sets standards for ownership, ensures accountability at all levels.
  • Empathy: Champions diversity and inclusion, mentors others in empathetic leadership.
