Production Representative 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

 

  • This position is responsible for reliable and timely supply of Foundation Seed that is of the highest germination, genetic purity, disease and physical condition.
  • Responsible for the management of all tasks within the assigned area including FS production, Quality, Inventory, FS Supply, Inventory management and data updating for responsible crop (s)
  • Work closely with plant breeding, MD and stock seed to aid new product advancement.
  • Manage all aspects of safety and compliance and other related activities
  • Monitoring of Large Seed production activities

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Oversee a regional Foundation Seed maintenance program for assigned crop (s)
  • May manage and guide the development of an assistant and/or technician and manage temporary workers as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of FS/Production increases including inventory, purity, and disease testing for assigned crops. Oversee inventory management of assigned crops
  • Work with Research and Crop Teams for technical support and advancement of new parent lines. Interact with Supply Planning and QA to be aware of inventory position and quality of seed being used
  • Oversee gathering information for proposed hybrid/ variety advancement review. Attend planning meetings, plan for increases to meet the needs of SS, phase 4 CS, breeder trials and TD trial needs
  • Ensure that FS increases meet quality specifications while increasing enough speed to meet customer needs.
  • Maintain inventories in storage and track inventories, shipments and quality information in appropriate databases(s), including but not limited to FS One, FTS, Velocity and SAP
  • Oversee operations including but not limited to seed preparation, seed sowing, rogueing, harvesting, conditioning, seed storage and shipments Work with Site Management, Production and/or Breeding Team to accomplish seed increases in field and/or greenhouse with improved cultivation practices & CSP measures. Align within & outside areas for understanding & implementing best practices for reliability, quality & diseases.
  • Evaluate new parental lines from Breeders to ensure lines are genetically fixed. Explore SNP testing new parental lines with leaf/ seed samples.
  • Production Data and Analysis - Review quantity, quality, cost and timeliness data and address areas for improvement, simplification, optimization. Provide timely input for Parental Availability for Production reviews and preplans.
  • Effectively prepare and present FS information in formal and/or informal meetings
  • Ensure compliance of internal and external programs in our operations including HSE, Human Rights, FCPA, QMS, CSP, etc.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

 

  • Minimum B.S. (MS preferred) in a scientific discipline plus minimum 4 years relevant experience
  • Excellent human relation skills, effective communication skills. Process oriented, results oriented and able to manage complexity.
