Cluster Category Lead 

 
   
   

Purpose:

The Cluster Category Lead is responsible for setting the cluster category vision and long-term strategies for the business she/he oversees. The CCL is ultimately responsible for achieving the short and long-term financial, strategic commitments and in-market results for the assigned categories.

Scope (global, regional or local): Iberia Cluster (Spain and Portugal)

Key Tasks

The CCL is responsible for establishing strategies and achieving the long-term objectives for the given categories as well as for the brands.

The CCL will have the lead cluster role, providing strategic guidance operative daily support to the Iberian team of Brand Managers for the assigned categories. The CCL will act as category captain and bring synergies and learnings across both countries.

The CCL is responsible for delivering against the financial and strategic commitments of the assigned category and brands, as stated in the Budget (mainly full P&L and in-market performance)

The CCL is responsible for overseeing coherent execution of the assigned categories for all other functions, mainly Trade Marketing, Sales (Direct to Pharmacy, Wholesalers, eCommerce…), to ensure that the brands have a consistent activation among all the channels and targets and are aligned with the respective brand strategy.

The CCL creates, together with the advertising and promotional agencies, the most effective communication for the brands, being it DTC, below the line, HCP’s or POS. She/He also manages, together with the agency and Media Lead, the media planning and budget, in order to achieve the desired reach and impact for her/his brands.

The CCL interacts with most of the areas in the organization, as well as external partners, to ensure that appropriate resources are devoted to the brand. He also is responsible, together with Trade Marketing, for getting the buy-in and motivating the Sales Force in relation to the brand POS plans.

The CCL interacts and works in common projects with the Global Marketing organization and with the EMEA Category Team, where he/she operates as reference member and team lead for specific projects.

Main objectives of the function:

1. Develop marketing strategy for the assigned categories for the short term (1-2 years) and mid-term (3-5 years).

2. Lead all the short-term brand plans, with all associated activation (Media, Consumers, HCPs…)

3. Lead cluster NPD innovation, ensuring strong pipeline and delivery of innovation freshness kpis are delivered. Drives innovation further than NPDs (claims, packagings, digigal services…)

4. Lead advertising development and other strategic projects for the Iberia Cluster, EMEA region or in conjunction with the Global Marketing organization, depending on the needs of the brands or categories.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: University degree with preference for business and/or marketing related fields. MBA degree is highly preferred.

• Experience: 10 years’ experience in Consumer Marketing in Healthcare or Personal Care companies. Additional Sales and Trade Marketing experience is an advantage.

• High commercial acumen and in-depth local market knowledge. Experience or knowledge of other countries is highly desirable, delivering marketing strategies that drive business growth across several countries or categories.  

• Leadership and team management skills to lead, mentor and develop other members of the team, influencing without hierarchical authority.

• Strong inter-personal and communication skills, able to persuade and influence others through personal credibility and assertiveness, capability to adapt to audience specifics

• Can work independently under pressure and capable of delivering on-time within the scope in a fast-paced environment.

• Strength in problem solving, ability to handle multiple and complex tasks simultaneously, to set priorities and allocate resources as required and influence results

• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills. Displays knowledge in using logical, analytical tools to address difficult issues and recommend potential decisions.

• Ambitious and self-motivated. Results and delivery orientation.

• Financial understanding and P&L literacy.

• Fluent in Spanish & English.
