Senior Expert Finance Projects
For our Finance Global Expert Hub – Projects, Analytics & Automation capability community, we are looking for a Senior Expert in our global Finance Projects team.
In Finance Projects & Divestments we have the privilege to deal with multiple types of cross-functional projects which have an impact on Finance such as ERP projects (SAP-related IT implementations), Mergers & Integrations and Divestments. This allows us to collaborate globally across our organization, actively drive functional guidance, ensure risk mitigation and contribute end-to-end.
In this position, you play an important role in ERP/BI and M&A projects which require specific project accounting expertise. You’re acting as a Subject Matter Expert with knowledge across different accounting areas (financial, management and tax accounting), coordinating project activities and identifying and conducting the necessary activities.
You are a knowledge reference on Bayer’s internal processes and flows and can analyze and report the impact that different kind of projects have on accounting.
You’re exposed to multiple kind of projects (e.g. carve-outs & divestments, integrations, new ERPs, business process changes, business model changes, new tools / enablers…) and focus on ensuring adequate quality of the future financial processes and statements, as well as anticipating any financial impact.

Key tasks:
- Coordinate Finance Project activities for small and medium size projects, defining timeline, project phases and key activities
- Coordinate and collaborate with other subject matter experts to assess the impact of different kind of projects on the future financial statements, financial processes and organization. Identify risks and define risk mitigation measures.
- Support the design and implement accounting and reporting processes to enable the reporting of Bayer Financial Statements for different kinds of projects like divestments, carve-outs, acquisitions, business model changes, integrations, mergers (with/without SAP), implementation of manual combined system approaches, e.g.
- Coordinate and conceptually guide experts from other capability pools (not only limited to finance) to perform the necessary actions / activities for the respective projects, with focus on project accounting.
- Apply project accounting expertise to design and apply efficient and effective accounting concepts and methodology for the successful execution of the project, including the creation of guidelines / best practice documents.
- Act as interface between IT and R2R organization for new ERP/BI projects.
- Preparation of data deliverables for M&A projects, with a deep understanding of how to best leverage existing data reporting tools (e.g. Analytics).
- Act as a filter and/or interface between projects and other capability communities / squads within the finance organization (e.g. Global Process Owners, Global Expert Hubs, Regional Finance Hubs) ensuring adherence to standardized processes and/or supporting the early preparation for future changes.

Skills & Qualifications
- Deep understanding of Bayer BRIDGE accounting concepts and how financial processes are mapped in our SAP / Reporting systems (FI-CO modules, H2R)
- Good understanding of E2E financial processes (from SAP unconsolidated process till Consolidated reporting process).
- Very good knowledge of Bayer Accounting policies: BKA and BMA, etc.
- Proven hands-on experience with SAP FI-CO modules, H2R, Prokon and analytical tools.
- Good sense for processes related to other functions and identification of their impact on finance (e.g. logistics accounting integration).
- Analytical skills – these include both, data analysis mindset as well as ability to explore using analytical tools.
- Strong collaboration and coordination skills, with high level of self-organization skills, prioritization and sense for criticality.
- Strong and trustful team player
- Ability to understand the big picture, extract the key messages and communicate to stakeholders.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
