Position Purpose


A Senior Statistician provides independent statistical expertise to cross-functional teams, leads statisticians and programmers, and ensures the application of appropriate and efficient statistical methods throughout development, submission, and life-cycle management of Bayer products, in line with global and regional standards, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to plan studies, perform analyses, and report results (e.g., as Study or Project Statistician).

  • Leads virtual cross-functional sub-teams within CS&A.

  • Implements standardized processes for routine analyses.

  • Develops statistical analysis plans for individual studies or integrated analyses.

  • Coordinates and oversees statistical activities across projects.

  • Ensures accuracy, quality, and interpretation of statistical analyses.

  • Independently manages statistical tasks and problem-solving.

  • Oversees outsourced statistical work, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.

Statistics and methodology are critical to drug development and life-cycle management, influencing study design, analysis, and reporting to support regulatory approval, scientific credibility, and successful product launch and maintenance.

The Senior Statistician contributes to drug research, development, regulatory approval, and life-cycle management in alignment with the responsibilities outlined above.

Qualifications

 

  • PhD or MSc in Biostatistics, Statistics, or Mathematics

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a statistical role within Pharma, Biotech, or a similar sector

  • Experience working in diverse, cross-cultural environments, ideally within a DSO (Dynamic Shared Ownership) model

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages (e.g., SAS and/or R)

  • Fluency in English

  • Head of CS&A

  • Head of Clinical Statistics (levels 1–4)

  • Head of CS&A China

  • Head of CS&A Japan
