YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Applied AI Specialist bridges Finance process expertise and artificial intelligence capabilities within the AI & PDS subhome. You ensure AI outputs are contextually correct, trustworthy, and plausible, combining domain knowledge with the ability to understand and work with AI. You validate AI-generated outputs, identify and prototype improvement opportunities using no-code/low-code tools, and serve as the critical interface between Finance domain knowledge and Data/AI Science delivery teams.
This role is designed with two equally valid entry paths: a Finance professional with solid process knowledge and a strong appetite to learn and apply AI and data science, or an AI/data professional seeking to ground their skills in Finance processes and contribute to measurable business outcomes.
KEY TASKS:
- Validate AI-generated outputs for business plausibility and contextual correctness;
- Perform root-cause analysis when AI outputs are unexpected, implausible, or incorrect;
- Ensure local business context, market specificities, and domain knowledge are correctly captured in data inputs and model logic;
- Document and escalate recurring output issues to inform model improvement cycles;
- Provide structured, actionable feedback to Data/AI Scientists on output quality and contextual issues;
- Identify opportunities where AI can improve Finance processes and workflow;
- Prototype AI solutions using no-code/low-code tools;
- Collaborate with Data/AI Science teams to implement AI-driven process improvements;
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on AI initiatives;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AI technologies and their application to Finance processes.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field
- 2–4 years of relevant professional experience
- Finance path: solid grounding in Finance processes (forecasting, reporting, controlling, or FP&A) with demonstrated curiosity and motivation to apply AI, data science, or digital tools
- AI/Data path: hands-on experience with analytics, data science, or AI/ML tools and genuine motivation to develop Finance domain expertise and drive business outcomes
- Ability to interpret AI outputs critically and identify gaps between model results and business reality
- Strong communication skills: able to translate between business language and technical concepts
- Comfortable working in cross-functional, agile environments with iterative ways of working
- Curiosity, growth mindset, and comfort with ambiguity in a dynamic transformation environment
- Proficiency in English (working language); additional languages are a plus
This position does not require necessarily relocation, the role can be done remotely from the employees current location. The role may be filled at any Bayer site.
