Vegetable Pathology Data Intern
Bayer Vegetable Seeds is specialized in breeding, production and sales of vegetable seeds. Employment at this Bayer division means working for a fast-paced and ambitious company. Within this fast-moving environment, the Bayer Crop Science R&D team is looking for a BSc or MSc student (M/F) to perform a computer/data science internship in Vegetable Pathology for a duration of 6 to 9 months located in Wageningen or Bergschenhoek.
The project you will be working on is aimed to help Advancing Disease/Pest Protection in Vegetable Crops.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will contribute to advancing our understanding and management of the disease/pest trait portfolio in vegetable crops. You will carry out data-driven research aimed at consolidating, analysing, and visualizing key insights to support efficient portfolio assessment and decision-making.
Activities can include, but are not limited to:
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Consult with pathology and data experts to identify critical variables, parameters, and decision points for strategic analysis.
- Data consolidation: Gather and organize existing internal and external datasets and make these suitable for downstream analysis.
- Data analysis: Perform statistical or computational analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities within the disease/pest trait portfolio.
- Model Development: Develop models that evaluate the relevance and can help to predict potential risks or future needs.
- Visualization Design: Build and test dynamic visualization templates to communicate key insights to stakeholders.
WHO YOU ARE
You are a graduate student pursuing an MSc degree in Biology with a strong interest in data analytics or a data scientist with a passion for agriculture. You are available for a 6-to-9-month internship and are available from early 2026 onwards.
You have a keen interest in applying data handling and processing techniques and are eager to gain hands-on experience with corporate software solutions. Your drive to learn and apply data-driven approaches in agricultural research will make you an invaluable contributor to our team.
Your qualifications include:
- Knowledge and experience with data handling and processing. Knowledge about phytopathology is a pre.
- A desire to attain applied research experience in vegetable pathology and trait analysis.
- Strong communication skills, with fluency in English (both written and spoken).
- Critical skills: self-motivated, creative, independent, a strong networker, agile and result oriented.
