Associate Development Scientist
Contributes to the activities of the BioSeparations group, whose function is to develop and support processes for the manufacture of cell therapy and monoclonal antibody therapeutics.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Development Scientist, are:
- Designs and executes process development experiments;
- Troubleshoots problems if they arise
- Analyzes, interprets and draws conclusions from the outcome of experiments;
- Communicates findings in both small and large group settings;
- Documents findings in notebooks and reports;
- Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought;
- Works on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of various factors;
- Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results;
- Critical for moving pipeline products forward into clinical manufacturing.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field;
- Basic understanding of process development and good manufacturing practices (GMP);
- Demonstrated ability to independently design and execute experiments;
- Ability to solve routine scientific problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including technical reports and presentations at departmental meetings;
- Hands on experience with one or more of the following operations;
- protein chromatography
- viral filtration
- tangential flow filtration
- cell culture and handling
- aseptic technique
- familiarity with the following instrumentations
- AKTA Avant
- AKTA Ready
- HPLCs
- Counter-flow centrifuges
- Cell counters
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
- Master’s Degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $77,000-110,000 Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
