Chief of Staff - RED CVRI (Cardiovascular Renal Immunology) (m/f/d)
The Chief of Staff (COS) is a member of the Research and Early Development CVRI Leadership Team (RED CVRI LT) and reports to the Lead of RED CVRI.
The COS supports the RED CVRI Lead and Leadership Team in developing, shaping and driving RED CVRI strategy, and in tracking and managing different operational aspects and performance.
This position also plays a key role in representing the RED CVRI Lead and serves as a primary liaison to other Bayer chapters, partners and enabling functions.
As such, the role requires an individual with the ability to operate credibly with senior management and across the organization.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Support: Provide strategic and operational support to the RED CVRI Lead and Leadership Team, including RED CVRI strategy development, Data Analytical and Science Team (DAST) support, meeting coordination, and stakeholder liaison. Prepare materials for cross-functional initiatives and maintain a roadmap of objectives to ensure successful outcomes
- Relationship Building: Cultivate strong, trusting relationships with leadership and stakeholders across the Research and Development (R&D) and RED CVRI organization, and the broader CVRI community to facilitate collective execution of strategic goals
- Initiative Leadership: Lead high-impact strategic initiatives for the RED CVRI chapter, overseeing concept development, planning, and implementation of projects that significantly influence R&D and the PH Division
- Stakeholder Management: Understand and manage stakeholder needs, ensuring alignment of objectives and strategic roadmaps. Drive continuous adaptation of strategies based on internal and external insights
- Operational Efficiency: Develop and coordinate functional concepts for RED CVRI, identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, remove barriers, and maximize resource utilization
- Portfolio Oversight: Collaborate closely with business partners to lead CVRI portfolio meetings and reviews, facilitating discussions that enable timely and informed decision-making
- Event Coordination: Organize and contribute to key RED CVRI-wide events, such as town halls and workshops, to promote engagement and communication within the organization
- Communication Strategy: Serve as the primary contact for internal and external communications related to RED CVRI, developing and executing a functional communication strategy
- Change Management: Champion new ways of working and agile approaches, driving transformation and change management initiatives across the RED CVRI organization
- Influential Leadership: Operate effectively in a matrix environment, embodying and modeling our leadership principles. Act as a visionary, catalyst, architect, and coach to guide teams and foster collaboration
WHO YOU ARE
- University degree (preferably PhD, PharmD, MD or MBA) with long-term professional experience in the pharmaceutical or life-science industry; consulting experience is required
- Proven, diverse geographical experience in strategic operations, project management and stakeholder engagement
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels of the organisation
- Strategic thinker driven to shape innovation strategy and culture, with excellent networking skills and a strict adherence to confidentiality
- Proactive driver who aligns solutions across diverse stakeholders and hierarchical layers, able to navigate complex environments and effect change
- Skilled at structuring information with a strong customer focus; experienced in AI tools (e.g., Copilot) and willing to experiment with new tools to improve interactions
- Passionate collaborator who fosters quality decision‑making, challenges the status quo, and is highly motivated to perform in fast‑paced, dynamic environments
- Fluency in English is essential; command of German is an advantage
