Clinical Strategic Project Lead (all genders)
As a Clinical Strategic Project Lead (all genders) within the CD&O Strategy & Performance Team, you will be part of the Clinical Development function in the Pharmaceuticals Division at Bayer, based in Berlin with a global scope. In this strategic and highly visible role, you shape the future of Clinical Development & Operations (CD&O) by leading high impact strategic initiatives and steering organizational and capability evolution. Working closely with senior leaders and cross functional teams, you translate strategic priorities into actionable outcomes that strengthen operational excellence and enable a future ready CD&O organization supporting Bayer’s mission to deliver innovative therapies to patients worldwide.\
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The purpose of this position is to develop, translate, and implement the global CD&O strategy by leading strategic projects, driving organizational development, and ensuring that CD&O capabilities and operating models evolve toward future-readiness and long-term operational excellence.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- You are responsible for leading the global CD&O strategic planning process and ensuring alignment with the overarching R&D and Pharmaceuticals strategy
- You ensure that CD&O strategic priorities are translated into tangible outcomes by defining and driving key initiatives
- You lead complex, cross-functional strategic projects, including approach definition, data analysis, business case creation, and implementation
- This task is part of your function: orchestrating stakeholder alignment and effective communication across Clinical Development, R&D chapters, and leadership teams
- You drive organizational development by evolving CD&O capabilities, structures, and processes toward efficiency, flexibility, and future-readiness
- Ensuring continuous environmental scanning and integrating internal/external insights into strategy is also your responsibility
- You act as a thought leader by identifying relevant industry and scientific trends and embedding them into strategic decision-making
- You actively role-model DSO behaviors—collaboration with accountability, outcome focus, co creation with customers, acting & learning fast
WHO YOU ARE
- You hold a university degree (Master’s level or higher preferred) in life sciences, healthcare, business, or a comparable field
- You bring long-standing professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally in clinical development, management consulting, or business transformation
- You are skilled in independently leading complex cross functional strategic projects without hierarchical authority
- Strong analytical capabilities including data evaluation, process analysis, and business case development set you apart
- You demonstrate strategic and conceptual thinking, enabling you to connect CD&O strategy with broader R&D and Pharmaceuticals goals
- Soft skills such as strong communication, stakeholder management, self organization, and a proactive and inclusive working style describe you
- Fluent English (written and spoken) rounds off your profile
