Preclinical Digital Innovation Scientist (all genders) 

 

 

As a Preclinical Data Innovation Scientist (all genders), you will actively shape the future of preclinical research at Bayer Pharma. You will develop innovative data and AI solutions to accelerate drug development and enable informed decision-making. As part of an interdisciplinary team within Preclinical Development, you will help position Bayer Pharma as a leader in data-driven research. Join our global network and make an impact! 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • You will collaborate closely with scientists, IT engineers, and data scientists to develop backtranslation solutions between clinical and preclinical data
  • You will analyze complex datasets from preclinical and clinical studies to generate actionable insights for drug development
  • You will design and implement proof-of-concept solutions using data science methods, especially with R or Python
  • You will drive data quality and the implementation of FAIR data principles within the product scope
  • Responsibility for the entire product lifecycle - from concept to sustainable delivery - will also be part of your role; Experience with Agile project management methodologies is an advantage
  • You will communicate product roadmaps and progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including cross-functional teams
  • You will steer external scientific collaborations and contribute your expertise to interdisciplinary consortia
  • You will help establish innovative data sciences as a key value driver for Bayer Pharma

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

  • You hold a university degree in Computational Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related field; a PhD is a strong plus
  • You have proven experience as a Data Scientist, Business Analyst, Product Owner, or in a similar role, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • You are proficient in data analysis and prototyping with Python or R, have experience with data integration workflows, analytical platforms, and visualization tools and an understanding of GenAI and Large Language Models is a plus
  •  You have a solid understanding of the pharmaceutical R&D pipeline, especially in preclinical and/or clinical development
  • You demonstrate the ability to translate complex scientific challenges into clear product requirements and data-driven prototypes
  • You stand out with strategic thinking, a high degree of self-organization and motivation, a proactive, solution-oriented mindset, with a focus on delivering value through hands-on execution
  • You bring excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to present complex topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, building trusted relationships across functions and influencing and aligning diverse teams without direct authority
  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in German is a plus
