Principal Machine Learning Scientist (all genders) 

 

You develop novel machine learning algorithms and workflows for protein modeling and design, including protein-protein and protein-ligand modeling. In this global role, you shape the future of drug discovery and collaborate with an international team driving innovative solutions for biomedical research. The position is part of Machine Learning Research and offers you the opportunity to make an impact both internally and externally.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You lead the development, evaluation, and application of machine learning algorithms and workflows to accelerate early-stage drug discovery, including de-novo design of biomolecules
  • You assess target druggability across therapeutic modalities and design drug delivery systems
  • You identify novel druggable pockets and epitopes and characterize protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions
  • You implement, validate, and improve machine learning tools and software solutions that support drug discovery
  • You identify opportunities to accelerate ongoing drug discovery projects through internal and external AI capabilities
  • You communicate, educate, and engage with stakeholders such as chemists, biologists, computational/data scientists, and R&D leadership
  • You engage with the broader scientific community through publications, talks, and open-source contributions
  • You keep up to date with the latest advances in AI-driven modeling of biomolecular structure and dynamics

WHO YOU ARE

  • You hold a PhD degree in Computational Chemistry/Biology, Chemical/Biological/Molecular Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with strong capabilities at the intersection of life sciences and computer science
  • You bring several years of professional experience after your PhD, including initial experience in the industry
  • You have experience with state-of-the-art machine learning methods for co-folding of biomolecules and de-novo protein design
  • You are skilled in handling, processing, integrating, and analyzing large datasets related to drug development research, including biochemical, biophysical, and structural biology data
  • You have experience with established, physics-based protein modeling methods such as Molecular Dynamics and/or Rosetta
  • You demonstrate strong programming skills in Python
  • You are committed to scientific rigor, possess strong analytical thinking skills, are highly self-motivated, and have a proven track record of scientific excellence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English round off your profile
