Product Development Scientist (all genders) - Crops: OSR, Corn & Hybrid Wheat; Borken 

 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Product Development Scientist, (crops are OSR, Corn & Hybrid Wheat) are to:

 

  • Design, develop, implement, and execute technical strategy required for product development (from 1st year of yield trial testing to commercialization) aligned with product concepts and portfolio needs to deliver genetic gain in the short and long term for breeding pipelines
  • Implement pipeline engineering and breeding roadmap design for product development including the stage plan end to end
  • Interact with partners in Field testing, Planning and Seed Production, Analytics and Pipeline Design, Product Design, Market Development and Regional Marketing to assure implementation of technical strategy while advancing the pipeline, for an efficient deployment of product and solutions
  • Advance and/or accelerate inbred and hybrids driven by product concept and tailored solutions
  • Execute cognitive pipeline analytics and AI models implementing data science and digital driven breeding pipeline and using state of the art analytics of phenotypic and breeding data across locations and seasons
  • Coordinate new product launches with our branded and licensing business
  • Support regional team and partners within region to support innovation projects for Precision Breeding, with a key focus on driving genetic gain, product performance and solutions informed by new genomics and phenomics insights (Digital transformation)

 

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

  • PhD graduate or Master with several years of relevant experience in plant R&D, experience in wheat breeding is beneficial
  • Demonstrated capabilities to develop, execute and evaluate complex programs
  • Experience in analysis of large biological data sets, quantitative genetics, statistical genetics, as well as coding experience in R, Python or similar software
  • High agility to respond to changing environments and adapt to new situations and work collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals
  • Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously
  • Customer-centricity, with proven record of identifying customer needs, prioritizing resources, and bringing timely results and sustainable solutions
  • Project management skills managing complex, multi-faceted projects resulting in measurable success
  • Class B driver's license is required
  • Proficiency in German and English is essential
