Production Quality Supervisor 

 

Job Purpose:

 

  • Responsible for supervising and advising on all in process quality and QA processes in Brits supporting to deliver Foundation seeds that meet regulatory, business and customer needs .
  • Ensures all activities related to the Foundation seed Processing Plant follows internal laid down procedures and advises the team on measures to improve or maintain product quality throughout the process.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensures foundation field quality/processes, Post harvest, plant processes of foundation, seed storage/ preservation meets regulatory, business and customer specifications in South Africa.
  • Support to ensure all non-conforming foundation seeds are segregated from field to plant and warehouse/storage level.
  • Adhere to the implementation and upkeep of the Quality Management System in the Brits plant.
  • Collection of reliable Quality data which can assist in track and trace and applied for continual improvement for foundation seed processing activities.
  • Continuously monitor plant foundation production processes from receiving to final product to ensure that a high standard of quality and integrity of foundation batches is maintained at all stages.
  • Ensure foundation seed operations adhere to testing strategy liaising with the lab and the foundation quality release team to ensure only compliant batches are released.
  • Collaborate with foundation team to identify foundation quality trends, non-conformance investigations and associated corrective and/or preventive action for foundation seed.
  • Perform in-processing checks (defects testing, weights, stitching, labelling) to ensure defective seed/bags are reworked.
  • Generate foundation quality report on regular frequency and sharing it with the necessary stakeholders.
  • Registration of Parent Seed Production Fields: Ensure the accurate and timely registration of parent seed production fields with the South African National Seed
  • Organization (SANSOR) in accordance with the South African Seed Certification Scheme and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Seed Scheme requirements.
  • Field Inspection Report Tracking: Monitor the completeness and approval status of field inspection reports submitted by field supervisors, ensuring that all reports meet compliance standards and align with the necessary regulations.
  • Documentation Preparation for Certification Compliance: Prepare all required documentation, including seal numbers, labels, preliminary certificates, and other necessary documents, to ensure full compliance with SANSOR certification requirements.
  • Registered Unit Compliance: Track the status of registered units and ensure that they remain in compliance with the South African Certification Scheme, taking proactive measures when necessary.
  • Documentation of Imported Foundation Seed Sources: Verify that all documentation associated with imported foundation seed sources complies with the provisions of the South African Certification Scheme, ensuring accurate and legal importation practices.
  • Certification Data Management: Ensure that certification data is consistently updated, accurate, and fully traceable, providing stakeholders with reliable and accessible information as required by regulatory bodies.

HSE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in Tier meetins and monthly Health and Safety Meetings
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment
  • Upon request participate  in emergency response teams 
    and any other safety or health group established by the site
  • Participate in all required HSE trainings and educations
  • Participate in all emergency drills

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy or related field with 5+ years experience.
  • Experience in seed processing.
  • ISO 9001:2018 knowledge and auditing skills
  • Communication, Report writing and analytics
  • Able to collaborate across the functions.
