Agricultural Affairs Manager 

 

AGRICULTURAL AFFAIRS MANAGER
 
As Agricultural Affairs Manager, you are accountable:
•    To apply policy foresight, analysis and expertise in support of Crop Science (CS) License To Operate (LTO) with regards to portfolio under responsibility
•    To broaden and deepen Bayer’s relationship with key actors in the EU agricultural and food value chain
•    For agricultural and food value chain stakeholders’ engagement strategy development and implementation related to the companies CS portfolio (short and long term) in EMEA

  • To drive a science- and evidence-based regulatory and policy environment 
  • To secure market access for innovation & defend our portfolio
  • To enable sustainable agriculture (now and in the future)

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Identify and analyze relevant policy developments, frame business impact (opportunities/risks) and translate into actionable intelligence for Crop Science
•    Develop policy advocacy positions and issue briefs related to portfolio under responsibility and contribute to development of global policy advocacy positions and issue briefs
•    Apply insights in societal, policy and technological landscape and trends to support and provide strategic direction to relevant EMEA product/customer teams and leadership as

     business partner on LTO and policy development topics
•    Develop and maintain strong trusting relationships and an effective network with stakeholders relevant to our ag business and active in agricultural, food and sustainability policy in EU
•    Develop and implement agricultural and food value chain stakeholder advocacy strategies and engagement plans related to portfolio under responsibility, coordinating associated

     activities across countries at EMEA level
•    Bring ‘outside in’ perspective from stakeholder groups under your responsibility into internal advocacy strategy development and into critical long-term R&D and business decision

     making processes (5+ year outlook) in EMEA
•    Manage and conduct meetings and events with key influencers and stakeholders on portfolio value recognition/acceptance, issues and policy developments relevant to the crop

     science business
•    Establish and lead cross-functional teams to proactively drive an enabling policy environment in EMEA, and ensure coordinated approach, with a strong focus on business impact and

     Bayer CS LTO
•    Liaise with global, internal industry and stakeholder affairs network to ensure consistent and coherent engagement with ag and food value chain actors globally
•    Represent Bayer CS’s interests in relevant trade associations and drive coordinated engagement through relevant industry groups
•    Act as an ambassador for Bayer CS in the EMEA agricultural, sustainability and food systems policy arena

 

WHO YOU ARE

•    Advanced University degree and minimum 10yrs + of professional experience in governmental, stakeholder and/or, industry affairs with proven record in leadership roles (incl cross-

     functional team leadership). 
•    Established network within EU agricultural and food value chain
•    Sound knowledge and understanding of Crop Science business/environment
•    Proven record in advancing initiatives through strategic communication to senior decision makers and influencers; Experience and strength in lobbying, networking and representation
•    Good knowledge of the EU policy and policy processes relevant for the agricultural sector
•    Strong strategic mindset & ability to manage ambiguity
•    Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop collaborative relationships based on trust and accountability with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives
•    Exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to credibly explain complex public policy issues and associated business needs/opportunities
•    Known to be proactive and have good cross-cultural awareness; actively seeks input from others who have a diversity of thought and experience; keeps appropriate stakeholders

     appraised of progress towards goals
•    Fluent in English and at least one other European language
