Biomarker Project Lead, Cardiovascular and Renal Diseases
The Biomarker Project Lead will set the vision and strategic direction for assigned programs, responsible for state-of-the-art precision medicine, including proof of mechanism, patients’ selection or differentiation. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of translational science and biomarker strategy, enabling informed decision-making and accelerating clinical development.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Biomarker Project Lead Cardiovascular and Renal Diseases are to:
- Develop and direct integrated translational sciences strategies for Cardiovascular & Renal programs, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables that drive sustained value creation for patients and the business;
- Lead biomarker discovery, development and deployment activities, collaborating with preclinical and clinical project teams to implement precision medicine approaches;
- Design and coordinate all aspects of biomarker delivery, including molecular and digital biomarkers and companion diagnostics;
- Guide preclinical asset development, enabling informed clinical development and go/no-go decision-making based on clinically relevant translational science criteria;
- Contribute to and review key study documents, ensuring comprehensive knowledge of the scientific, development, and regulatory landscape. Ensure compliance of biomarker activities with regulatory requirements and drive biomarker qualification processes;
- Maintain effective internal and external networks, representing the organization in discussions with health authorities, ethics committees, and key opinion leaders;
- Act as a key consultant to other functions, organizing cross-functional resources for biomarker activities;
- Evaluate, interpret, and present results from biomarker analyses to support decision-making.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field;
- Demonstrated leadership in drug development, particularly in CVR indications;
- Strong scientific laboratory skills with a profound knowledge of experimental systems and technologies for molecular biomarker identification;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to prioritize effectively, seize strategic opportunities, and adhere to high standards;
- Strong team player, assertive yet open to the views of others;
- Mentor and coach team members, promoting a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous learning.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of industry experience with a proven track record in biomarkers and precision medicine;
