Co op Precision Molecular Oncology 

 

The Precision Molecular Oncology group at Bayer Research and Innovation Center (BRIC) is focused on bringing cancer targeted therapies to patients with unmet medical need. We use a combination of genetic and chemical approaches, including functional genomics and proteomics, to identify and validate oncology targets and support drug development. Our group is looking for a co-op to join our dynamic research team at Bayer Research & Innovation Center in Cambridge, MA

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

  • Perform experimental laboratory work for oncology drug discovery and development.
  • Culture cell lines and perform cell-based functional assays (e.g., proliferation assays, Western blot, qPCR) to support the validation of novel therapeutic targets, and the evaluation of novel therapeutic compounds in development.
  • Collect and analyze data, and maintain thorough electronic lab notebooks and documentation records.
  • Ensure that laboratory notebooks are consistently updated, audited, and well maintained.
  • Communicate data clearly and concisely to the appropriate teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Actively working towards or recent graduate with a BS/BA/MS or PhD degree in Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Pharmacology, Biotechnology or related fields
  • Have strong general knowledge of Biology.
  • Have some experience in cell culture methods and sterile technique.
  • Have some experience with biochemical and molecular biology techniques.
  • Prior experience with cancer cell biology/oncology preferred.
  • ·Prior experience with cell culture and cell-based in vitro assays (proliferation assays, Western blot, qPCR).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have strong oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain concepts clearly in lab and small team settings
  • Have attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively
  • Have working knowledge of data management (Graph Pad Prism, Office 365, etc);
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Bayer will not provide work sponsorship to co-op students
  • Must be available for a six-month assignment at Bayer’s Boston site.
