The role is a part of Bioprocess Design (BPD) hub and will work closely with Bayer R&D partners on strain engineering. The chosen candidate will work closely with BPD team to engineer the microbial strain to improve the production of biomolecules to meet the needs of partners across Bayer.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
- This position will be an integral part of a team focusing on the improvement of existing microbial production host for diverse biomolecules
- The successful candidate will independently review literature, design hypothesis, develop and implement experiments to achieve genomic manipulations in bacterial hosts;
- Analyze research results, draft reports and effectively communicate with partners;
- Collaborate with partners across different functions to drive interdisciplinary project forward;
- Help with routine lab operation to ensure a safe operation within the lab.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- PhD candidate in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, bioengineering or a related discipline;
- Prior hands-on experience on genetic engineering or metabolic engineering in microorganisms;
- Familiar with bioinformatics tools in genome analysis to guide the engineering approach;
- Expertise in microbial fermentation beyond shake flask is an advantage;
- Proved track record of independent research and troubleshooting skills;
- Prior experience in working with diverse team, preferentially working with international teams;
- Excellent organization and planning skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team, strong motivation with a dedicated work ethic;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
