YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Controlled Environment Facilities Coordinator ensures that Plant Biology greenhouses, growth chambers, and controlled environment infrastructure operate reliably and efficiently to support research, seed production, phenotyping, and product development. Serving as the primary liaison between research teams, utilities, and facility teams, this role helps minimize disruptions, optimize operations, and enable scientific success.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Controlled Environment Facilities Coordinator, are to:
- Coordinate greenhouse, growth chamber, and controlled environment (CE) facility operations to ensure reliable support of research, phenotyping, seed production, and product development activities;
- Serve as the primary liaison between scientific research teams, utilities, contractors, and facility operations to align infrastructure needs with research priorities;
- Coordinate planned maintenance, utility shutdowns, facility access, and infrastructure activities to minimize disruption to experiments and operations;
- Support facility improvement projects, space modifications, construction activities, and infrastructure upgrades from planning through implementation;
- Monitor facility performance, identify operational risks, and drive timely issue resolution and continuous improvement;
- Coordinate vendor and contractor activities, including preventive maintenance, service visits, inspections, audits, and follow-up actions;
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements, access controls, training standards, and site procedures;
- Communicate project status, operational impacts, priorities, and risks to stakeholders across the organization.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Knowledge of controlled environment infrastructure, including HVAC, environmental controls, irrigation systems, lighting, chilled water, compressed air, and related utilities;
- Strong project coordination, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills;
- Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, preventive maintenance programs, and facility service providers;
- Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate facility shutdowns, outages, and recovery activities;
- Experience supporting facility construction, renovations, capital projects, or infrastructure improvements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience; OR
- Master’s degree with 2 years of experience; OR
- Ph.D. degree;
- Experience working in greenhouses, agricultural, laboratory, research, manufacturing, or other technical environments;
- Proven track record of improving operational quality, efficiency, reliability, or service delivery within complex technical or research environments;
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives through influence, collaboration, and stakeholder alignment to deliver measurable business impact.
Domestic relocation may be offered for this role.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $97,120.00 to $145,680.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
