We’re doing it with energy, curiosity and sheer dedication, always learning from unique perspectives of those around us, expanding our thinking, growing our capabilities and redefining ‘impossible’. There are so many reasons to join us. If you’re hungry to build a varied and meaningful career in a community of brilliant and diverse minds to make a real difference, there’s only one choice.

Genome Editing Target Design Scientist

As a Genome Editing Target Design Scientist, you design key research projects to identify gene-editing targets and prescribe alleles expected to deliver desired phenotypic impact; you work with a diverse set of data inputs to develop genotype-to-phenotype predictions using the industry’s most extensive global agriculture and genetic datasets; you identify and develop game-changing ideas that produce sophisticated insights and leverage rapidly evolving datasets and model-based approaches to guide genome editing and crop improvement efforts; you collaborate closely with the Crop Genome Editing team and the Biology and Genome Design community to translate discoveries into actionable editing pipelines and influence research direction across cross-functional scientific, engineering, and IT partners;

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce and document recommendations for alleles predicted to achieve desired phenotypic outcomes;
  • Implement and apply state-of-the-art genetic discovery tools to identify novel genetics with predicted optimal phenotypic performance by leveraging diverse genomic and phenotypic datasets;
  • Develop robust workflows and analysis pipelines to enable cross-team communication, decision making, and iterative learning from key experiments;
  • Identify and model complex genetic interactions and variant effects to improve design and prediction for current and future gene-editing pipelines;
  • Consult on and contribute to the gathering, curation, quality control, and analysis of new data sources (e.g., functional genomics, phenomics) across R&D teams;
  • Partner with cross-functional scientific, engineering, and IT teams to prioritize targets and influence research and development strategies;
  • Share best practices and mentor peers within the Biology and Genome Design community to build capability and drive scientific excellence.
