Innovation Pipeline Postdoc 

 

As an integral part of our innovation pipeline, you are responsible for the end-to-end execution of projects that drive novel processes and product concepts. Collaborating closely with research scientists, data scientists, bioinformaticians, and statisticians, you design and execute experiments that inform go/no-go decisions. Your role involves establishing novel protocols across various scientific domains, ensuring seamless information flow across functions, and maintaining comprehensive research documentation. Your expertise in computational biology supports the analysis of datasets, optimizing experimentation and potentially developing new dashboards or data systems for visualization. You also contribute to intellectual property filings, furthering our commitment to innovation.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Be accountable for end-to-end execution of innovation pipeline projects;
  • Partner with other members of the innovation pipeline to select and execute novel processes and product concepts;
  • Collaborate with fellow research scientists, data scientists, bioinformaticians, and statisticians;
  • Design and execute experiments that lead to go/no-go decisions for processes and new product creation;
  • Establish novel protocols in cloning, tissue culture, molecular assays, cell biology, imaging, insect control, or other wet bench techniques;
  • Oversee information flow and project needs across functions and teams;
  • Read and summarize literature pertinent to selected projects;
  • Present verbal and written reports; hold regular project meetings;
  • Maintain well-documented research records;
  • Utilize computational biology to analyze datasets and optimize experimentation, potentially building dashboards or data systems for visualizations;
  • Aid in intellectual property filings.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Hold a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, genomics, plant biology, plant physiology, biochemistry, bioinformatics/computational biology, or related field;
  • Project management experience;
  • Strong molecular biology acumen with the ability to independently design and execute experiments and analyze data;
  • Proven ability to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, analytical thinking, creativity, and enthusiasm for hands-on bench work;
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience using molecular/cell biology techniques such as gene editing, ddPCR, cell culture, cell imaging, plasmid transformation, and sequencing;
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, coding with Python and/or R, and visualization systems like Spotfire or Power BI for data-driven results and decisions
  • Experience in plant growth and care, fieldwork, and entomology knowledge;
  • Experience with R, Python, bioinformatic analysis, and applying data science principles/tools to analyze large datasets;
  • Experience with comparative genomics.

 

Domestic relocation may be available for this role.
