Mechanical Engineer Co-Op 

 

As a Mechanical Engineer Co‑op, you will work with a team to provide mechanical engineering designs for large‑scale capital projects and support multiple sites and projects concurrently; you will collaborate closely with other Mechanical Engineers and project team members at a local level to help deliver safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations; this is a hands‑on learning opportunity where you apply your academic knowledge to real‑world engineering challenges in a dynamic, diverse environment.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Prepare project mechanical specifications and summaries for design packages;
  • Review equipment vendor drawings and support construction activities at manufacturing sites;
  • Support engineers in the development of mechanical equipment specifications and construction drawings;
  • Contribute to the development of equipment checkout plans and support project checkout and startup at manufacturing sites;
  • Apply basic project management skills to help coordinate tasks, timelines, and deliverables;
  • Collaborate with other Mechanical Engineers and project team members to solve problems and implement practical engineering solutions.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering;
  • Must have completed at least 1 year of a Bachelor's program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale;
  • General mechanical aptitude and interest in applying engineering principles to real‑world projects;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Good problem‑solving skills and a high degree of personal initiative;
  • Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and within a diverse culture;
  • No travel limitations.

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $26.00 to $31.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
