Protein Specialist

Protein Specialist for Chesterfield, MO to develop & optimize protein expression and purification procedures from plant tissues, bacterial, yeast, and insect cells; develop & validate enzyme assays; perform protein characterization & formulation; perform protein safety assessments; perform data documentation & prepare reports. Requires Master’s in Biochemistry, Biology, or closely related field & 1 yr experience performing protein characterization and safety assessments using protein biochemistry techniques, including gel electrophoresis, quantification methodologies, and functional activity assays in a laboratory environment; developing and/or improving novel protein isolation methods from biological tissues, including bacteria over-expression systems & plant tissues, using chromatography; developing and/or improving protein expression for recombinant proteins in bacterial cells with cloning techniques; developing & validating activity assays for proteins based on their functions using enzyme assays and/or protein binding assays; managing studies in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice requirements.
