R&D Specialist II 

 
   
   

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, R&D Specialist II, are to: 

 

  • Collaborate with team members to deliver plant genotyping targets under defined deadlines, identify opportunities for system or process improvements, operate automation, and perform experiments;
  •  Delivers daily/weekly plant genotyping targets;
  • Has primary or shared responsibility for molecular biology laboratory technology. Accountable for cross functional work in multiple platforms/process areas;
  • Solves problems, optimize workflows, validates methods using multiple data sources, and uses specialized scientific techniques to conduct experiments and recommend process improvements;
  • Adheres to established protocols and techniques while operating and troubleshooting instrumentation;
  • Prioritizes and coordinates work while maintaining detailed record keeping and required documentation;
  • Achieves commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Strong molecular biology acumen and wet laboratory skills with the ability to independently design/execute experiments and analyze data.
  • Ability to work second shift (Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM  to 9:00 PM), with the potential for flexibility following training;
  • This is a lab role, with >90% of duties involving wet lab duties and responsibilities.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s degree;
  • Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or related life sciences area;
  • One or more years of relevant experience in academia or industry;
  • High throughput laboratory automation experience with mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting automation;
  • Prior experience communicating scientific data and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
  • Experience with library creations processes for Next Generation Sequencing;
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization software.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $60,000.00 to $90,000.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
