Statistical Scientist
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Statistical Scientist, are to:
- Apply statistical reasoning and statistical methods for applications in biology.
- Provide statistical consulting leadership to identify the appropriate experimental design for a study protocol, including sample size computation, and conduct analysis to answer critical study questions.
- Create analysis data sets, statistical summary tables, listings, figures, and statistical reports
- Use advanced statistical techniques and tools, and strong business acumen to deliver insight, recommendations, and solutions.
- Perform inferential analyses, including documentation, to support decision-making and regulatory submissions, publications, and scientific presentations
- Identify limitations, improve upon existing methodologies, finds novel applications of existing methodologies; adopts and applies novel statistical methodologies with an open mind.
- Effectively senses and attends to changing needs of the consumer of the analyses while maintaining scientific integrity.
- Clearly explain technical and non-technical aspects of their work to other statisticians and stakeholders, both orally and in writing.
- Build cross-functional relationships to collaboratively partner with the business and effectively network within the Statistics Community
- Actively listens and recognizes when the expertise of others should inform decisions. Partners effectively with subject-matter experts to deliver relevant solutions to well-scoped problems.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Masters or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Mathematics with a specialization in Statistics.
- Expertise in wide range of statistical techniques including, but not limited to experimental design, general and generalized linear mixed models, non-linear mixed models, multivariate statistics, non-parametric analysis, and Bayesian statistics.
- Demonstrates intermediate proficiency in computational skills and an intermediate level of experience processing data, conducting statistical analysis, and visualizing results in R and python.
- Strong communication competencies to include presentations and delivery of complex quantitative analyses in a clear, concise, and actionable manner to extended team and small groups of key stakeholders.
- Ability to actively engage with internal partners & external collaborators to align project outcomes with quantitative success measures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience
- Educational preparation or applied experience in at least one of the following areas: Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biology, Plant Physiology, Chemistry, Genomics, Computational Biology, or another related field.
- Experience writing and deploying pipelines in a cloud environment
