Sustainability, Safety, Health and Environment Intern 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

  • Become familiar with the site’s Emergency Response Program, including assisting in improving evacuation and Take Cover procedures and assist with developing multiple types of training;
  • Assist with updating and correctingEvacuation & Take Cover maps;
  • Assist in developing a visitor emergency preparedness information sheet/pamphlet;
  • Learn Bayer’s hazardous work permit system and assist in approving the usability of permits;
  • Help SMEs determine if their permits can be completed electronically and determine approval workflow;
  • Become familiar with Lock Out Tag Out Regulations and Program;
  • Validate Equipment Specific Procedures Assist with Machine Guard Assessments to confirm compliance;
  • Become familiar with Confined Space Regulations and Program, audit Facilities Inventory and confirm Hazard Assessments;
  • Assist with "Alternative Controls" Safe Access to Machinery Program Digitalization of High-Risk Work Permits (Confined Space, Excavation, Aerial Lift, Elevated Work, Hot Work, Mobile Crane, Breaking into Pipelines) Job Safety Analysis Program Support Documentation and file storage administrative support

 

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing an education in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene and/or Environmental Engineering/Compliance;
  • A Safety & Emergency Preparedness emphasis is a plus;
  • Completion of college Sophomore or Junior Year;
  • Classes completed in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, and Environmental Engineering/Compliance will be beneficial
  • Skills & Competencies Ability to work within a team environment and semi independently after receiving direction on work projects;
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn new software programs;
  • Organization, time management, and attention to detail Willingness to learn.
