Testing and Operation Associate Manager

PURPOSE

Active involvement with Product and/or Technical Units to drive unit outcomes in alignment with mission team tasks. Execute complex field trials across crops and multiple sites to deliver high-quality data, enabling accurate and timely decisions in the advancement of products through the pre-commercial and breeding pipelines. Ensure that field testing innovation strategies and plans are in place to advance data science-driven Precision Breeding. Support activities of the Asia field testing program, including all activities related to trials such as field selection, grower management, field plot management, data collection, mechanization, and digital tools and technologies that contribute to the highest data quality. MAJOR TASKS

• Responsible for implementing product characterization strategies and field testing (FT) operations to deliver product pipelines in alignment with global and regional FT strategies.
• Execute field testing activities as per the aligned trial plan, including trials, data capture, and data return, utilizing mechanization and automation to contribute to efficient, data-driven advancement decisions. Deliver the highest data quality through the work of employees in the organization by using new technology and processes.
• Strategically implement new technologies that drive significant improvements in breeding phenotyping, planting, and harvesting processes through partnerships with automated engineering, IT, data science, and external vendors.
• Utilize research equipment such as planters, combines, and handheld digital devices for note-taking. Assist in computer-related activities and provide support for testing activities, including the operation of shelling systems, seed counters, and seed packing.
• Responsible for all day-to-day operations of the testing program and the general operations of multi-location testing programs. Support effective administration of testing responsibilities, including hiring, development, training, and retention of temporary/contract employees; budget management; and asset care.
• Overnight travel during the planting and harvest season may be required. Several 2-3 day trips for training and other meetings are likely throughout the year.
• Implement and ensure compliance with company/functional policies on Environment, Safety and Health, Quality Management Systems, and stewardship across testing locations.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

• MS in Agriculture or a related field of study with 5+ years of significant people and project management experience in an agricultural-related research position.
• Relevant field experience in trialing corn and rice crops.
• Innovative and digital acumen for advancing Precision Breeding imperatives.
• Advanced computer skills and excellent knowledge of software related to data acquisition and analysis.
