What You Will Do
The Head of Portfolio Strategy & Positioning is responsible for defining and driving the portfolio strategy and overarching positioning for the Glyphosate franchise and its related assets. This includes the core Glyphosate business as well as adjacent and supporting value streams. The role ensures that the portfolio is structured, optimized, and positioned to maximize value creation, competitiveness, and long-term growth. It translates business ambition into clear portfolio choices, positioning logic, and strategic direction, while establishing a coherent narrative anchored in the Roundup™ brand. Operating within Strategy & Innovation, the role works under the direction of the Head of Strategy & Innovation and serves as a central point of integration across commercial, technical, and strategic functions.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the role are to:
- Define and drive the portfolio strategy for Glyphosate and related assets, including segmentation, positioning, and role of each product and value stream within the broader system;
- Shape the long-term strategic direction of the business, including volume ambition, cost optimization pathways, and portfolio evolution in line with market dynamics and internal capabilities;
- Identify opportunities to simplify, optimize, and strengthen the portfolio, reducing complexity while improving competitiveness and value capture across markets.
- Translate market insights, customer needs, and competitive dynamics into clear portfolio priorities, positioning choices, and strategic actions;
- Act as a central integrator across key functions, including Agronomic Solutions, Regulatory, Formulation Technology, Strategic Partnerships, and Commercial teams, ensuring alignment around a clear business perspective;
- Define and govern the positioning of the Glyphosate franchise, with a primary focus on strengthening and consistently positioning Roundup™ as the flagship brand;
- Establish guidelines for portfolio positioning, brand architecture, and messaging, ensuring consistency across markets while enabling appropriate regional adaptation;
- Support the definition of innovation priorities and pipeline direction by articulating clear business needs and linking them to portfolio gaps and growth opportunities;
- Drive alignment across regions and functions through strong indirect leadership, ensuring direction is reflected in regional execution;
- Monitor portfolio performance and external developments, adapting strategy and positioning as needed to maintain competitiveness and relevance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agronomy, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in portfolio management, product positioning, or brand strategy within a regional context.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscapes.
- Proven ability to work across cross-functional and matrixed environments, influencing and aligning diverse stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to balance commercial, technical, and operational considerations.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate strategy into clear and actionable direction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 13+ years of relevant experience in portfolio strategy, marketing, commercial, or related roles.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) in business or a related field.
- Experience in crop protection, agriculture, or adjacent industries.
- Exposure to markets and multi-regional portfolio management.
- Experience with brand governance and positioning frameworks.
- Experience working at the interface of strategy, innovation, and commercial functions.
- This role plays a key part in shaping how the Glyphosate franchise is structures and positionings. Success requires connecting long term strategy with practical execution, aligning diverse stakeholders, and ensuring the portfolio evolves in a disciplined and value-driven way.
This posting will expire on 7/24/2026.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between 170560.00 - 255840.00 per year. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
