Scientist II
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works collaboratively with global BPD team members to deliver targets under tight deadlines, identify opportunities for bioprocess innovation and improvements, operate automation and perform experiments, collaborate, and communicate with stakeholders
The primary responsibilities of this role, Molecular Biologist Scientist II, are to:
- Lead bioprocess projects to develop effective, efficient, and scalable processes and technologies needed for supply of diverse biomolecules;
- Possess strong knowledge in molecular biology and microbiology to lead strain improvement projects to ensure timely delivery of milestones;
- Leverage strong domain knowledge and well-connected network to identify new research opportunities across functions and contribute to research projects, technologies, publications, intellectual property, or trade secrets;
- Independently designs and analyzes the results of a variety of bioprocess experiments across various molecules/product types;
- Solve complex problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning and the application of scientific principles to the design and interpretation of bioprocess experiments;
- Operate and troubleshoot a wide variety of instrumentation;
- Solve problems autonomously using multiple data sources;
- Prioritize and coordinate work within a team, maintaining detailed record keeping and required documentation;
- Achieve commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices;
- Demonstrate a sustained high level of technical skill and achievement;
- Must keep abreast of new science and technological develops and exploit them to continuously improve functional area capabilities;
- Effectively communicates results internally and externally.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. degree;
- Background in natural sciences (e.g., molecular biologist, biotechnologist, biologist, biochemist, biochemical/chemical engineer);
- Strong molecular biology/biochemistry/biotechnology acumen with the ability to stay abreast of technical development in areas of expertise;
- Strong background in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and metabolic engineering;
- Committed to continuous learning journey and willing to accept feedback through coaching and mentoring;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to foster collaborations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. with 3 years relevant experience; OR
- M.S with minimum of 5 years relevant experience; OR
- B.S. with minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
