Public Affairs Science & Sustainability Manager Benelux 

 

As our Public Affairs, Science & Sustainability Manager Benelux, part of the Benelux Corporate Communications department, you position Bayer as a life sciences company in health and nutrition amongst external stakeholders. 
Developing and maintaining an effective network with national and where relevant international policy makers, will be an important part of your daily work. Anticipating the implications of changes in laws and regulations that affect CS's activities, monitoring political news and how this impacts our different businesses are other aspects of this exciting job.


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

• Position Bayer as a life sciences company in health and nutrition amongst external stakeholders
• Provide policy and issue monitoring services in healthcare and agriculture/environmental policies, measure potential business impact of legislative proposals and respond as appropriate
• Promote the CropScience (CS) division, its activity and strategy and share elements on sensitive topics with a network of officials, representatives of civil society, agricultural and agri food sectors and other stakeholders, through contacts and meetings
• Pursue/build and maintain a network within the agricultural sectors and more generally the agricultural ecosystem: professional agricultural organizations, professional bodies, think tanks, etc. 
• Contribute to preserving CS's "license to operate" in Benelux, by contributing to crisis management issues (Glyphosate / SDHI / neonicotinoids / NBT / other topics such as Endocrine Disruptors, etc) 
• Position and represent Bayer senior management within trade associations and with government and in some professional/institutional bodies around agriculture/nutrition/environment 
• Prepare statements, summary documents and notes for the different target groups

WHO YOU ARE
• Master degree (political science, law, natural sciences, economics or related subjects) with experience and strength in political communication, lobbying, networking and representation
• Sound knowledge of political decision making process and existing stakeholder network in Benelux 
• Good understanding of health & agri/food business/environment
• Strong strategic mindset & ability to manage ambiguity 
• Expert in oral and written communication in English, Dutch and French for effectively interfacing and influencing key policy makers
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
