Process Chemistry Scientist (all genders) 

 

 
 
 
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Process Development Scientist (all genders) to drive the development, optimization and scale-up of chemical production processes. This role focuses on improving yield, quality, and cost efficiency while ensuring the successful transfer of processes from laboratory to production scale. You will play a key role in maintaining the competitiveness of production technologies by applying state-of-the-art innovations and scientific expertise. 
 
 
 

 YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You develop, optimize, and continuously improve chemical processes for the production of new and established agrochemical active ingredients, focusing on cost efficiency, quality, sustainability, and process safety
  • You transfer processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial scale, ensuring smooth implementation across internal and external manufacturing networks
  • You achieve optimal manufacturing costs and ecological targets by designing and applying new synthetic methods and technologies
  • You provide chemical expertise, consulting, and troubleshooting support to manufacturing sites
  • You evaluate scientific literature and patents to ensure competitiveness and freedom to operate
  • You take responsibility for laboratory equipment and technical systems, including investment planning and compliance with regulations and safety standards
  • You mentor and support junior scientists (MSc, PhD, postdocs)

 

 

WHO YOU ARE

  • You hold a PhD in Organic Chemistry
  • You have excellent knowledge of classical and modern synthetic methods, including tools in preparative organic chemistry
  • You bring long-term industrial experience in process development
  • You have a strong track record in scaling up chemical processes
  • You have experience leading scientific projects and interdisciplinary teams
  • You have experience mentoring MSc and/or PhD students
  • You have a solid understanding of process economics (e.g., COGM calculations)
  • You stand out with strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and clear communication
  • You are fluent in both German and English
