Molecular Designer for Profile Driven Chemistry (all genders) 

 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible for innovative drug projects and/or development candidates throughout the discovery process, providing scientific leadership in interdisciplinary research teams, and sharing his/her knowledge and experience with scientists and technical staff
  • Design drug candidate molecules in a global R&D organization in a hypothesis-driven manner based on profiles that fit Bayer’s innovative Crop Key concept, leveraging biological, biochemical, and physicochemical data for decision-making
  • Work in an advanced digital environment, leveraging and driving cheminformatics, molecular modeling, deep learning/machine learning, and AI for developing SAR understanding, drug molecule design, data analysis, and decision-making for drug molecule realization to maximize our pipeline contribution
  • Work in a results-oriented, self-organized team of internal and/or external chemists in close collaboration with biologists, biochemists, data scientists, and other disciplines, supporting cross-team and cross- site activities
  • Present scientific excellence and creativity within and outside Bayer and promote the scientific network with external partners from academia and CROs (Contract Research Organizations) and/or with agrochemical experts

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

  • Scientist (PhD level) with outstanding skills in chemistry, computational chemistry, data science, or equivalent
  • Professional experience in agrochemical and/or pharmaceutical research
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in drug synthesis and design, cheminformatics, molecular modeling, library design, and data science or a closely related field and a track record of publications in this field
  • Experience in working with or leading interdisciplinary teams on challenging drug discovery and optimization projects
  • You are willing to learn, develop yourself and your teammates, and receive and share feedback within the team. You inspire the team with optimism and initiative, you challenge the status quo, and you are interested in driving change
  • You share with us the values of mutual respect, inclusion, diversity and a strong desire to be a member of a successful team driven by delivering the best for our pipeline
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills help you convey scientific and technical data concisely
  • You are fluent in English. Knowledge of German and French is an advantage
