Manufacturing IT / OT Lead (m/f) 

 

Bayer HealthCare Manufacturing is looking for a brilliant and strong Manufacturing IT / OT Lead.

He/she will lead and develop the Operational Technology (OT) Team within the Engineering, Maintenance and Excellence (EMEX) cluster at the Garbagnate pharma manufacturing site, managing OT systems and assets used across all departments (Manufacturing, Quality Control Laboratories, Warehouse, Site).

 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Be responsible for 24/7 operations, availability, and performance of Operational Technology (OT) assets at the Garbagnate manufacturing site across all departments, covering both infrastructure (e.g., networks, servers) and applications (e.g., MES, LIMS, SCADA)
  • Ensure that OT systems are maintained, root causes investigated, promptly restored, lifecycle-updated, and compliant with technical, security, safety, Good Quality Practices (GxP), regulatory, and environmental standards
  • Lead OT Security efforts on site, aligning with global CyberSecurity program, implementing NIS2 requirements for the Company (which is identified as “soggetto essenziale” by the Autorità per la Cybersicurezza Nazionale), managing incidents, monitoring system access, and promoting security awareness
  • Design and implement OT processes and solutions in compliance with GxP, manage deviations and CAPAs, oversee qualified asset changes, collaborate with QA, and conduct training sessions
  • Manage and lead a multidisciplinary OT Team, supporting team growth, skill development, and alignment with business value creation
  • Drive continuous improvement in OT systems using lean methodology (PSS), targeting zero downtime, full security, and cost optimization
  • Define and communicate a strategic OT vision supporting the site’s world-class manufacturing goals, linking it to outcomes that matter for customers
  • Architect OT service delivery frameworks with Corporate IT and vendors, setting performance standards and SLAs to ensure service quality and improvement
  • Coach and empower the OT Team, prioritizing people development, ownership, collaboration, and solution implementation
  • Mobilize site resources and stakeholders to deliver high-impact outcomes, challenging the status quo with an agile, risk-balanced approach
  • Act as a key OT contact for global Pharma Product Supply EMEX cluster, Enabling Function IT clusters and local site clusters
  • Ensure personal and team compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, and Energy responsibilities

 

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science and Engineering or related fields and at least 5 years of experience in the IT/OT space or High School Diploma and at least 7 years of experience in the IT/OT space
  • Hands-on experience with Manufacturing IT / OT operations of infrastructure and applications and security management
  • Experience in leading a Team of Professionals with diverse capabilities
  • Pharmaceutical experience with knowledge of GxP regulations is strongly preferred
  • Leadership skills with focus on the attributes of Vision, Architecture, Coaching and Catalyzing (VACC), communication and change management skills, digital mindset, creativity and intrinsic motivation to continuously improve
  • Concrete experience in implementing and applying lean management methodologies
  • Proactive and structured problem-solving approach, creative mindset
  • Residence or domicile in Lombardy
  • Fluent in English and Italian mother tongue
