Main Purpose
The Tax Expert will prepare complex tax returns and ensure a consistent application of tax rules and internal procedures for less complex tax returns. Experience with tax schedules is key. Perform research on complex situations, providing an outline of issues and appropriate sources of research to be conducted. Analyze researched facts utilized prior to composing a CAR analysis (Context/Actions/Results) of the research findings. Further, resolve stakeholders’ inquiries and process issues by applying a very good level of tax judgment and business knowledge. Keep updated on the latest developments of tax laws and regulations. Also, respond to and resolve tax notices and inquiries from the tax authorities with a good understanding of corresponding tax law and assess related changes and their impact on the process. Review reconciliations, reconcile corresponding tax accounts, and maintain accurate tax records while working collaboratively with different partners to promote the proper recording of transactions and quick resolution of pending tasks. Identify and implement process improvements related to the current processes. Additionally, support tax audits related to tax compliance activities through data preparation, analysis, and documentation.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Support other team members on tax compliance and tax accounting processes
  • Through daily tasks, identify complex tax situations and implement mitigation plans
  • Propose and collaborate with team members and senior experts to develop and implement standardization and automation of tax processes
  • Write, revise, and align with LE master data supporting documentation – LE and Country Specific
  • Ensure that reports are submitted on time
  • Handle tax queries from AP, IC & Local Tax (including request monitoring)
  • Perform tax accounting activities according to the activity split with the country
  • Contribute to training, onboarding, and people development within the team and across GBS-Tax
  • Ensure alignment between Global Tax and local tax requirements
  • Monitor and clear reconciliations of tax accounts
  • Responsible for the timely and proper resolution of escalation of incidents/issues/concerns
  • Contribute to improving tax processes and implementation of innovation
  • Ensure reconciliations meet Bayer controls
  • Prepare quarterly accruals
  • Assist and respond to tax notices and information requests from tax authorities
  • Support tax audits related to tax compliance activities through data preparation, analysis, and documentation

Skills & Qualifications (education, skills, experience):

  • Professional experience of 4 years in Accounting Taxes (Mandatory)
  • Studies in Accounting, Business, Finance, Law, or Tax (Mandatory)
  • Preferred professional experience in multinational companies and big four firms
  • SAP ERP knowledge is a must
  • Data analysis: proficiency in Excel, Pivot tables, LOOKUP functions; experience in Macros would be a plus
  • Familiarity with tax software tools e.g., Corp Tax, TLS, Amara (tax provision and CIT tax returns software)
  • Good capabilities in researching tax laws, regulations, rulings, etc.
  • Understanding and comprehension of researching tax laws, regulations, rulings, etc.

  • Ability to identify complex tax situations and implement mitigation plans
  • Ability to manage multiple and diverse stakeholders

  • Proficiency level in English, both written, reading, and spoken, completes your profile
  • Knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Power BI, Knime, Python, VBA, Smart Automation, etc.) would be a plus
