Territory Manager - Sales 



To ensure achievement of territory’s business targets with Operational Excellence and by cultivating customer relationships



  • Execute sales strategy for the territory – including channel strategy:
    • Territory segmentation & planning
    • Budgeting, forecasting & collection
    • A & P budgeting & monitoring 
    • Execution plan in line with regional strategy
    • Ensure appropriate channel presence to achieve right reach & penetration in line with the portfolio strategy
    • Utilize  My Monsanto platform along with distributors
    • Foresee and have contingency plans in place, as required


  • Execute market development plan for the territory:
    • Utilize digital platforms (Such as IDEA & Farm Rise) for effective planning of market development activities in territory
    • Develop pre-season / season /post-season market development plan within A&P budget
    • Execute LBSF strategy
    • Execute customer relationship programme


  • Track the following metrics for the territory for Sales Effectiveness:
    • A & P (Within approved limits)
    • Cheque bouncing (Within approved limits)
    • Days Sales Outstanding
    • Share of growth / launch Hybrids as percentage of total sales, manage product life-cycle in the territory (in line with the regional strategy)
    • Sales per territory and monitor viability of every territory
    • Salience of top 10 distributors & key retailers in the territory
    • Returns as percentage of placement
    • Retailers coverage
    • Forecasting accuracy – RSP and RCP
    • Percentage of direct dispatches to total sales


  • Execute critical processes for the Territory in the areas of:
    • Market funding
    • MIS – weekly reporting, PL POG reporting
    • Competition tracking
    • Forecasting – sales & collections
    • Implementation of IDEA,, PDP


  • Managing resources optimally:
    • Market development officers
    • Marketing inputs
    • Tool for trade


  • Work with the TD team in the areas of pre-commercial trials, hybrid advancement, product training, complaint handling, agronomic interventions and interface with external stakeholders
  • Maintain healthy relationship with external stakeholders especially Ag. Dept.
  • Execute key FTO initiatives in the region along with corporate engagement team, as required



  • Experience Range: 2 – 5 years in Sales / TD / Marketing
  • Education: Graduate. PG education like MBA / MSc in Ag or related subjects will be preferred
