Cyber Security Engineer Network
PURPOSE:
This role is responsible for managing, operating, and maintaining the controls that protect Bayer’s computer networks, systems and data from cyberattacks. They work closely with IT teams to identify, assess and mitigate security risks, and they work with ITSM to ensure operational continuity and with cyber incident response to contain the damage from security incidents and prevent future attacks.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role Cyber Security Engineer:
- Designs, Implements, and Operates cybersecurity solutions for Bayer’s systems and products in compliance with Bayer’s applicable security policies and standards;
- Works with IT and internal and external business partners to ensure that security is factored in the evaluation, selection, installation, and configuration process of hardware and software.
- Maintains operational efficiency, performance, and reliability of security systems; integrating into IT service management and incident response processes.
- Analyzes and makes recommendations to improve network, system, and application architectures.
- Assists in the review and update of cybersecurity policies, architectures, and standards.
- Assists in responding to audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments.
- Designs and implements secure infrastructure solutions, including network security, configuration management, storage security, and identity and access management (IAM) based on security policies to prevent unauthorized access.
- Conducts regular security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential risks.
- Align with Cyber Security Architects on ensuring security architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices are implemented into technology
Network Security:
- Install and operate firewalls, encryption programs, and other security software.
- Develop and promote best practices for information security
- Investigate incidents and respond to events in real time.
- Monitor network traffic for security incidents and events.
- Operate the global Functional Network Firewalls inclusively On-Call Services
- Primary Contact for IT internal & external Colleagues in terms of Troubleshooting and Connectivity Issues
- Carry out physical and virtual Maintenance activities and align with local Business Stakeholder replacement and Life – Cycle activities.
- Consult local IT Contacts in building Networks and developing Firewall Rule base
- Conduct regularly Review’s of Firewall Rules and align with local IT Team’s it’s removal
- Build and maintain relationships with other teams, business units, and stakeholders; regularly communicate status to key stakeholders.
- Follow up on technical cases including proper escalation and management of the case until case closure.
- Operating Interfaces to connected Systems like Nagios and Algosec
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications
- BS or MA in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field, though relevant working experience may be considered an equivalent.
- Understands organizational mission, values, and goals and consistently applies this knowledge.
- First experience with cyber security tools and techniques to automate security tasks, streamline incident response, and enhance overall security posture.
- First experience with relevant security standards and regulations that apply, such as PCI DSS and HIPAA. They should be able to assess compliance requirements and implement necessary controls to ensure adherence to these standards.
Applied experience in at least one of the following areas: Network Management, Cloud Security, CheckPoint Firewalls, SkyHigh/TrellixNetSkope - ITIL Basic Knowledge in Processes (Incident-, Problem-, Change- & Request-Management) and Tools (ServiceNow)
- Strong working knowledge of current IT risks and experience implementing security solutions;
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in cybersecurity, previous experience in a security engineering role highly desired.
- Desired, but not required: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
The salary range for this position will be $102,000 to $153,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.
This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
