Sr. Electrical Engineer - Medical Device 

 

Location: Indianola, PA (On-site)

Sr. Electrical Engineer – Medical Device

This position is independently responsible for major portions of complex projects. As a Sr. Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and integrating medium-complexity electronic design elements while ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will also mentor less experienced engineers, lead design reviews, and manage technical aspects of projects. In addition, the standard Bayer Core Competencies and Life Values apply in evaluating your suitability for this role.


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Sr. Electrical Engineer – Medical Device, are to:

  • Define requirements for design elements at the sub-module level;
  • Design and integrate medium-complexity electronic design elements;
  • Apply knowledge of product lines and clinical applications to support new products or processes;
  • Understand and apply relevant processes required to accomplish objectives;
  • Lead design reviews of complex designs at the sub-module level;
  • Expand verification efforts to complex sub-module and simple system-level designs;
  • Plan and manage work activities of significant technical scope with minimal direction;
  • Lead teams on project activities of medium technical scope at the sub-module level;
  • Provide advice and mentoring to less experienced engineers or technicians;
  • Develop, qualify, and maintain supplier and partner relationships as directed;
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering;
  • 4-7 years of experience demonstrating an evolution of engineering knowledge, including real-world understanding across the breadth of the discipline;
  • In-depth knowledge of subtleties and pitfalls in one or more areas of expertise within a technical discipline;
  • Basic knowledge of other technical disciplines;
  • Technical breadth with cross-functional design experience across several engineering disciplines (e.g., software, mechanical, high-speed digital, small signal analog, digital signal processing, EMC);
  • Demonstrated experience in using worst-case analysis to ensure designs meet performance and manufacturability requirements;
  • Proven ability to manage the technical aspects of complex design projects;
  • Excellent oral, written, and listening skills;
  • High-performance orientation, project achievement, and strong attention to detail;
  • Proficiency with schematic entry tools (preferably OrCAD) and mathematical analysis tools (preferably Mathcad);
  • Working knowledge of PC operating systems, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of standards and equipment for Electrical Safety and EMC testing (e.g., IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, or similar);
  • Experience obtaining Safety and EMC compliance certification;
  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage partnerships, implement change, and work in cross-functional teams;
  • Proven sound judgment, continuous innovation, and adaptability skills;
  • Experience with circuit analysis tools and a blend of theoretical and experimental concepts for solutions.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $82,190.40 - $123,285.60.  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
