Head of Public Affairs Indonesia 

 
   
   

Purpose:

1. To develop and implement a Public Affairs strategy for Indonesia that supports our vision and 3 business – Pharma, Crop Science & Consumer Health – objectives, including:

  • Identifying together with the business the key topics, stakeholders and forums to participate 
  • Connecting topics and having a wider view of possible impacts 
  • Scouting the environment and building intelligence to anticipate issues and opportunities
  • Establishing relationships with key stakeholders in the long term for efficient advocacy
  • Building a consolidated and strategic plan for the country and reviewing it every 90 days to ensure progress and adjustments 

2.   Contribute to the global challenges from a country perspective, building relevance and preference among stakeholders and being mindful of the wider impacts. 
3.   Part of the local leadership teams, coordinates with the key internal partners to co-build 360º activities to ensures presence and relevance 

 

YOUR TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Team member & leadership: 
    •    Leads the PASS strategy and activities in the country and actively participates in the global PASS community.
    •    VACC leader with a strong sense of purpose and accountability

2.    Strategic Planning:
    •    Develops and executes integrated public affairs strategies that align with the company’s goals across Pharma, Consumer Health, and CropScience divisions, resulting in measurable business impact              and improvement in public and stakeholder trust.
    •    Monitors and analyzes public policy trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments specific to pharmaceuticals, self-care, nutrition, healthcare, and agriculture to assist and lead strategic                    decision-making, proactively adjusting strategy and enhanced compliance. 
    •    Develops and reviews every 90 days the PA strategic activity to adjust whenever necessary
    •    Creates / adapts the needed positioning and ensures the whole company at country level speaks one voice
    •    Manages topics holistically and develops integrated plans, content and activities for all relevant target groups and channels.
    •    Scouts the environment and build intelligence to anticipate issues and opportunities

3.    Stakeholder Engagement:
    •    Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations, NGOs, and community organizations relevant to the Pharma, Consumer Health, and                   CropScience sectors, resulting in increased advocacy support and collaboration opportunities.
    •    Represent the company at public forums, industry conferences, and stakeholder meetings to advocate for the company’s interests in these industries, contributing to a stronger industry presence and           influence.
    •    Partnerships and alliances: establishes mutually beneficial working relationships with associations; individual partner companies or groups; alliances with advocacy groups or other opinion leaders

4.    Cross-Division Collaboration:
    •    Build a strong and aligned internal network including Regulatory, Legal, and Commercial to ensure alignment of public affairs initiatives with business objectives and operational strategies, leading to             enhanced synergy and effectiveness in public affairs efforts.
    •    Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices among the divisions to enhance overall public affairs effectiveness, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
    •    Ensures the normal functioning of the sites from a PA perspective (local officials’ relationship, trade, etc.) and leverages the footprint of Bayer in the country 

5.    Monitoring and Evaluation:
    •    Evaluates the effectiveness of public affairs initiatives and adjust strategies as needed, ensuring that public affairs efforts are data-driven and result-oriented. Contributes accordingly to the Value @               Stake system.
    •    Prepare regular reports for senior leadership on public affairs activities, outcomes, and emerging issues specific to each division, providing insights that inform strategic direction and resource                          allocation.

 

WHO YOU ARE:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
•    7+ years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or corporate affairs, with a strong focus on the agriculture or pharmaceuticals and healthcare sectors.
•    Proven track record of navigating the regulatory environment and public policy landscape affecting Pharma, Consumer Health, and CropScience.
•    Strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within these industries.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
•    Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working across divisions.
