PURPOSE
Own and safeguard end-to-end Indonesia tax compliance, tax accounting integrity, and tax risk management across direct and indirect taxes (e.g., VAT, WHT, CIT), ensuring accurate filings, robust reconciliations to financial statements, strong audit readiness, and high-quality tax governance. Drive continuous improvement through controls, standardization, and digitalization/data analytics, including operational effectiveness under CoreTax. Accountable for tax outcomes across the Indonesia entity scope and end-to-end process quality (compliance + controls + documentation). Role requires deep specialized tax know-how (direct/indirect tax, tax accounting, systems), complex problem solving under regulatory change and audit pressure, and accountability for compliance outcomes and risk mitigation through governance, controls, and digitalization.
KEY TASKS
1.Compliance & Reporting (Direct + Indirect)
- Lead preparation/review and timely submission of monthly/annual tax obligations (including VAT, WHT, and CIT) with complete documentation and audit-ready workpapers.
- Ensure compliance processes remain stable and effective under Indonesia’s CoreTax environment and related e-systems.
2. Tax Accounting, Reconciliations & Controls
- Authoritative knowledge of tax reporting, tax accounting, and reconciliation to statutory financial statements
- Identification/resolution of discrepancies, and prevention of recurring issues through improved controls.
- Strengthen process and control framework and continuously improve compliance quality through standardization and innovation
3. Audit, Dispute & Controversy Management
- Lead end-to-end tax audit and dispute support: build defensible positions, prepare argumentation and evidence-based documentation, coordinate internal evidence, and manage interactions with external parties as required.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
1.Know-How
- Advanced technical knowledge across Indirect & Direct taxes (VAT, WHT, CIT) and their operational impacts.
- Tax Reporting & Tax Accounting understanding (how tax positions flow into financial statements, reconciliations, and workpapers).
- Working knowledge of Transfer Pricing basics (terminology and impact on other taxes)
- Strong systems know-how: SAP (must-have) and advanced Excel; ability to design pragmatic data-based controls and reporting.
- Practical proficiency with Indonesia tax platforms (e.g., CoreTax, related e-systems).
2. Problem Solving
- Ability to interpret changing regulations and convert them into fit-for-purpose processes, controls, and stakeholder guidance
- Strong judgment to assess how tax rules impact business operations and documentation; resolves complex issues with incomplete data through structured analysis.
- Drives root-cause fixes (not just firefighting) via process improvement and automation initiatives.
3. Accountability
- Ownership for end-to-end compliance quality and the integrity of tax reporting outcomes; ensures defensible documentation and control maturity.
- Leads audit/dispute readiness and responses, protecting the entity from tax exposure through evidence-based positions.
- Accountable for driving measurable efficiency and risk reduction through standardization and digitalization.
4. “Leadership without Direct Reports”
- Stakeholder management: establish and maintain a sustainable stakeholder network; influence Finance and non-Finance staff at various levels.
- Training & knowledge leadership: guide, document, and train on process and control standards; conduct stakeholder trainings
- Communication & presentation skills: able to explain complex tax matters clearly, including in audit contexts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Tax/Fiscal with significant tax experience (multinational and/or international tax firm experience is a plus).
- Strong experience in managing and overseeing tax matters covering direct/indirect taxes, tax reporting/tax accounting; SAP experience required.
- Demonstrated capability in process improvements and digitalization/analytics applied to compliance outcomes.
WORKING RELATIONS
- Internal: Finance leadership, Accounting/Controlling, AP/Procurement, HR/Payroll, Legal, Supply Chain/Logistics, and business stakeholders requiring tax guidance.
- External: Local tax advisors, Indonesia Tax Office, auditors, and where required tax authority interfaces for audit/dispute processes.
IMPACT / FINANCIALS
- Protects the company by preventing penalties and minimizing tax exposures via high-quality compliance, documentation, and effective dispute support. Possible Tax Exposure from Audit as much as EUR 4.6m.
- Improves cash/timing outcomes through disciplined compliance operations and strong audit readiness (including VAT/WHT/CIT cycles). Total VAT & WHT Value EUR 11.3m, Total CIT = EUR 5.2m.
- Delivers efficiency and risk reduction through standardization and automation initiatives under CoreTax constraints.
