Virtual Patients Expert (all genders) 

 

We are seeking a scientifically driven and conceptually strong Virtual Patients Expert (all genders) to join our Virtual Patients team, part of the broader Model-Informed Drug Development (MIDD) function at Bayer Pharmaceuticals in Leverkusen. This role contributes directly to our R&D goals by developing and applying Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) models , supporting clinical development through advanced simulation strategies. You’ll work in a hybrid, international team environment with flexible arrangements and close collaboration across MIDD subgroups.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • You independently contribute QSP expertise to development projects – from early research through to market launch
  • Further development of QSP methodologies and simulation tools is a key part of your responsibilities
  • Together with MIDD leads, you develop model-based strategies using preclinical and clinical data
  • Supporting PBPK teams with QSP know-how and operational input is also part of your role
  • As part of interdisciplinary teams, you design and implement QSP activities
  • Your experience with simulation methods promotes the application of advanced modeling approaches across various projects
  • You ensure scientific and operational excellence in all QSP-related activities
  • Your contribution helps maximize the impact of model-informed strategies on clinical development

 

WHO YOU ARE

  • You hold a PhD in Life Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, Systems Biology, or a related field with a focus on systems modeling
  • You possess strong theoretical and computational skills, particularly in mathematical modeling and scientific problem solving
  • Experience with tools such as PK-Sim, MoBi, or R is an advantage – training will be provided if needed
  • Programming or coding experience in a scientific context is considered a plus
  • A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills enable you to work effectively in international, interdisciplinary teams
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken, complete your profile; knowledge of German is not required
