Data Engineering Squad Lead
Job Purpose:
- We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to lead the strategy development and implementation of our Data-as-an-Asset (DaaA) outcome within the Row Crops Supply Mission in EMEA.
- Be responsible for connecting data sources from Sales, Portfolio, Planning, Foundation-and Commercial Seed, Production Research, as well as ensuring Quality Assurance and Quality Testing for all data processes, enhancing Commercial Seed Production through data-driven decision-making in the EMEA region.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Data Strategy Development: Drive the strategic vision for DaaA, ensuring alignment with organizational Vision, Mission, goals and objectives.
- End-to-End Data Engineering: Design and implement robust data pipelines for dynamic and real-time data updates, utilizing ETL processes to facilitate the extraction of meaningful insights and analytics.
- Data Architecture: Architect and maintain a comprehensive Data Warehouse / Data Lake that integrates diverse data sources, ensuring seamless, real-time connectivity with global systems and cross-functional teams.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Consolidate, summarize, and analyze data to support critical processes, including production research, area and field analysis, and comparative studies between production plants and laboratories. Conduct cost analysis and automate key performance indicators (KPIs) from the Data Lake.
- Data Modeling: Architect, Develop, Standardize and maintain dimensional models, ensuring effective cross-connections to support analytical needs across the organization.
- Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance protocols to ensure data quality, integrity, and security. Implement LEAN data design principles to optimize data workflows.
- Project Leadership: Lead specific projects within the Data Squad, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive successful outcomes through 90-day cycles. Actively participate in the Global Decision Science network to share insights and best practices.
- Cost management: Deliver cost reduction directly and indirectly in the manufacturing to sales value chain.
- Quality and Safety Systems:
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001:2015 and ISO45001.
- Actively record safety observation and near misses, Adhere to all applicable legislation, Bayer safety policies and procedures, Actively promote the Bayer safety culture and best practices
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of professional experience in data engineering, data analytics, or a related field.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
