Mechanical Maintenance Engineer 

 

As a Mechanical Engineer at Bayer, you play a crucial role in supporting daily mechanical maintenance activities. Your expertise is vital for developing work packages and repair plans, providing technical support, and ensuring mechanical integrity and equipment reliability. You will be instrumental in troubleshooting mechanical issues, designing effective solutions, and contributing to cost management efforts. This position is essential to maintaining operational excellence and safety standards within our manufacturing plant environment.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop Mechanical Engineer work packages and repair plans for mechanical maintenance jobs;
  • Create weld procedures for all weld repair jobs performed by Maintenance;
  • Provide technical support for developing mechanical maintenance job plans for equipment repairs and preventative maintenance jobs, and support maintenance technicians during work execution;
  • Perform troubleshooting on mechanical issues and design solutions to effectively resolve them;
  • Support mechanical integrity improvement efforts through technical support on equipment inspections and design repairs based on inspection findings;
  • Review all completed equipment inspection reports;
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analyses on equipment issues and implement corrective actions to enhance future performance;
  • Assist in Annual Shutdown activities by developing mechanical work packages and providing technical oversight during execution;
  • Contribute to cost management by tracking equipment maintenance costs, identifying improvement opportunities, and prioritizing reliability projects.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • 0-2 years of experience, including May 2025 graduates;
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor and as part of a diverse team composed of engineers, operations personnel, maintenance personnel, and leadership;
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills;
  • Capability to perform work in a manufacturing plant environment, including ascending/descending stairs and ladders;
  • Computer proficiency in Windows-based programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Strong safety ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Bayer Mechanical Engineering Co-op Experience.
