Production Planner

Main Purpose:

• Plan and schedule production related activities for Commercial processing plant in Mbeya.
• This includes harvest planning, offloading to dryers and DS bulk planning from seed Growers.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Plan and schedule production related activities for Commercial processing plant in Mbeya to both tolling plants, focusing on accurate yield forecasts and delivering of raw seed for processing.
• Coordinate harvesting planning meetings with the field and equipment squads and schedule the harvesting accordingly.
• Coordinate with Operational and Planning Mission Leads the processing plan
• Coordinate KPI reporting for Tier 3 meetings
• Oversee the planning and scheduling of the harvesting complex and conditioning plant. 
• Work with the Production Warehouse team to ensure seed is moved to finished goods warehouses.
• Assist with inventory management
• Comply with goals set forth for quality, reliability, and cost
• Maintain planning and scheduling records as required by the QMS management systems.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and management system set by ISO9001:2015.
• Review KPI’s, training needs and assessment reviews, to assist in implementation of LEAN Practices.
• Support continuous improvement projects to drive cost saving and OEE.
• Provide information and insights on planning activities. 
• ​Actively record safety observation and near misses​
• Participate in 5WHY problem solving identifying corrective and preventative actions.​
• Actively participate in implementation of the site safety program, lead ESH efforts, and aid and arrange for resources to promote site safety in line with ISO45001 standards.
• Adhere to all applicable legislation, Bayer safety policies and procedures​

Qualifications & Competencies: 

• A bachelors degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or related fields.
• At least 8 years' experience in seed manufacturing operations and management or planning.
• MS Office software (Excel, E-mail, Word, Project etc.)
• SAP knowledge is added advantage 
• Interpersonal and communication skills
• Results focused with ability to work on own initiative
• Strong teamwork (flexibility to work across the areas and positively influencing others)
• Establish clear direction and making decisions on a timely manner
• Fluent in English
• ISO training -desirable
