AI Innovation & Design Intern (m/f/d)

Bayer S.p.A., within the Strategy Excellence & Innovation function is looking for a talented and motivated AI Innovation & Design Intern with a specific focus on Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. The role is designed to support the ideation, design, and prototyping of AI-driven solutions that enhance business processes and enable value creation across multiple business functions.

The ideal candidate combines a strong creative and design-oriented mindset with a genuine interest in Artificial Intelligence, user experience, and emerging technologies. The intern will contribute to translating complex business and user needs into intuitive, user-centered AI concepts, while exploring innovative ways in which AI can improve experiences, decision-making, and operational efficiency.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the ideation of innovative AI use cases across different business functions (e.g. marketing, medical, commercial).
• Support to co-create AI solutions together with business stakeholders and end users through workshops, brainstorming sessions, and design sprints.
• Analyze user and business needs and translate them into functional requirements and user experience concepts
• Collaborate to design wireframes, user flows, storyboards, and mockups to effectively illustrate how AI solutions work.
• Support the definition of human–AI interactions and key experience touchpoints.
• Contribute to developing visual and narrative materials to clearly communicate AI concepts and prototypes to internal stakeholders
• Collaborate closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Product Owners to ensure alignment between design concepts and technical feasibility.
• Contribute to the design of intuitive, accessible, and effective interfaces and micro-interactions.

WHO YOU ARE

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Interaction Design, Service Design, Product Design, Human–Computer Interaction, Innovation Design, or related fields.
• Strong interest in Artificial Intelligence and genuine curiosity about its real-world applications in business and user experiences.
• Proactive, creative, and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to approach complex problems in a structured and innovative way.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to clearly convey ideas, concepts, and design rationales to diverse stakeholders
• Experience (academic or practical) in design thinking, design sprints, or user research methodologies.
• Basic familiarity with Generative AI concepts, Large Language Models (LLMs), and automation solutions.
• Exposure to AI and creative tools such as ChatGPT / Copilot, Builder.io, or similar platforms.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken) and Italian native speaker
