Digital Workflow Engineer (all genders) fixed-term position (12 months)
In Crop Protection Chemistry, our mission is to pioneer new ways to protect crops, safeguard food security, and preserve the environment—setting new benchmarks for the industry. As global agricultural challenges continue to evolve, the need for innovative and sustainable solutions has never been greater.
Our CropKey approach is built on two core pillars: Target-Based Discovery and Profile-Driven Discovery. These are enabled by breakthrough innovations in life sciences and significant advances in data-driven technologies, including computational target discovery, next-generation screening paradigms, predictive early safety, and digital chemistry.
As part of the Bayer CropScience Small Molecules (SMol) group, our team collaborates across the organization to enable data- and model-informed innovation and decision-making. We are now looking for a Digital Workflow Engineer to strengthen our digital capabilities in agricultural research and development.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- You work in a fast-paced, collaborative R&D environment
- You design and build systems using TypeScript, Node.js, and React to interact with automated laboratory and greenhouse machinery
- You design and maintain databases, develop SQL queries, and create JSON-based APIs
- You actively contribute feedback during product design and specification processes
- You take ownership of the full software lifecycle, including development, debugging, testing, implementation, support, and continuous improvement
- You apply creativity and independent thinking to solve complex challenges in agricultural research
YOUR PROFILE
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or bring equivalent practical experience
- You have solid experience in software development, database design, or server administration
- You are proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript with several of years of hands-on experience
- You have strong expertise in SQL query development and relational database design
- You are experienced in developing JSON APIs
- You are familiar with Git and GitHub Actions; experience with Docker and CI/CD tools is a plus
- You are enthusiastic, creative, proactive, and comfortable thinking outside the box
- You bring high energy, strong goal orientation, and a hands-on “can-do” attitude
- You collaborate closely with teams in a greenhouse environment and are comfortable working in high temperatures and elevated humidity when required
- You communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing; English is your primary working language
This is a fixed-term position for 12 months.
