Machine Learner Multi-Omics and Imaging (all genders) 

 

 

You will use state-of-the-art data science methods and work in close collaboration with biologists and biochemists to find and elucidate new innovative targets and mode of actions. You will contribute to generate a better understanding of the effects of our compounds to match the complex regulatory and customer needs. 
You will be part of a diverse team of data scientist striving for the digital transformation of Small Molecules.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Using and developing advanced mathematical models (e.g. machine learning), bioinformatics, and image-analysis skills, you will deliver and elucidate new starting points to advance chemical design
  • Formulating clear, testable hypotheses and relevant experimental planning in imaging and biochemistry, you enhance understanding of bioactive molecules and guide towards safe and active compounds
  • You will develop and apply bioinformatics and machine learning methods for the integration and modeling of multimodal and imaging data, as well as consult and assemble large, complex datasets for analysis
  • Leading strategic and scientific initiatives within the Data Science Community, you will be at the forefront of innovation
  • You function as a subject matter expert and Data Science ambassador, driving and fostering internal and external collaborations
  • Establishing a trusting relationship with colleagues in biology and biochemistry, you advance the search for new molecules and the biological, biochemical understanding of our targets
  • You are an integral member of project teams, driving new product development together with all team members - good collaboration and communication are essential
  • You are part of an international & interdisciplinary research team, closely interacting with your colleagues from the entire Bayer R&D organization

 

WHO YOU ARE

  • You hold a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or biology, computer science, physics, or related fields, or possess related professional experience; a background in biology is a plus
  • You have a proven track record of successfully applying data analysis techniques and proficiency in chemogenomics (e.g., transcriptome data, regulatory genomics, image analysis)
  • Your strong experience with the development and application of machine learning approaches, programming, data mining, implementing new computational methods, and workflow automation is evident
  • You possess solid programming skills (Python and/or R) and are acquainted with Unix/Linux
  • Your profound knowledge of the latest data science methods required for the identification and optimization of targets and molecules is essential
  • Your ability to drive cross-functional science in interdisciplinary teams is valued
  • Your high social competence and effective communication skills enable you to closely collaborate across functions
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken, are a significant asset round off your profile
