Plant Controller Lead Myerstown
Purpose:
This role leads all aspects of plant controlling activities and is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring the financial health of the Myerstown site and Manchester Distribution Center. This role works with a multidisciplinary dynamic team and is accountable for all financial and controlling activities including annual budget, development of unit standard product costs, monthly / quarterly / annual financial reporting, variance analysis, cost savings, write-off, and products costing.
This role collaborates closely with Core Operations, all support functions including Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing IT, Operational Excellence, CoE and Distribution and Logistics to ensure accurate financial planning and compliance with corporate policies and regulations. This role also works closely with all functions to generate ideas and promote sustainable cost savings measures for the site. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance of financial information by verifying both balance-sheet and income statement entries for accuracy.
This role fosters the culture of continuous improvement mindset aiming the permanent optimization of processes that generates positive impact in working capital and value creation. This role plays a crucial role in driving success by facilitating communication within site and corporate level, managing risks, and adapting to changes across the site financial processes.
The role embraces Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) principles and practices and follows the VACC approach to leadership (being a visionary, architect, catalyst, and coach). The role actively evolves the site operating model and fosters successful adoption of DSO.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, , are to:
- Team Leadership: Act as VACC (Visionary, Architect, Coach and Catalyst) to build, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of professionals, promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment. Establish target outcomes, priorities and coordinate talent flow to maximize organizational impact. The incumbent demonstrates, credibly embodies and showcases VACC leadership.
- People Development:

- Financial Management:
- Lead all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, standard product costing and monthly / quarterly / annual financial reporting, variance analysis and financial commentary for the site. Ensure accurate and timely financial data to support decision-making;
- Lead, implement and monitor cost control measures to optimize operational efficiency and profitability. Identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement;
- Lead the cross-functional collaboration to continually improve productivity and profitability through the assessment of the financial impacts of new products costing, transfer in/out of products and services, feasibility studies, and capital investments;
- Lead the establishment and monitoring of standard costs for all products manufactured at Myerstown site. This includes conversion costs, new product costing, and other related operating costs. Support proper breakdown of target costs and reconcile with bottom-up planning. Ensure correct assignment of planned variances according to global distribution rules;
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and operational decisions. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data. Ensure proper monitoring of production deviations, special product costs, and provide information to continuously improve the financial production process;
- Prepare and present financial reports to site leadership and corporate finance. Ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting;
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by looking for ways of improving working capital, establishing digital tools and driving innovation according to business and market needs;
- Ensure adoption of new processes, ways of working and usage of technology and analytics to drive best business outcomes with value creation.
- Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure each area within Plant Controlling including general accounting, capital accounting, cost accounting, and inventory control are done in accordance with Divisional policies, as well as within generally accepted accounting principles;
- Ensure compliance with audit and control function with Division and Central Accounting, Finance and independent auditors;
- Participate in regular internal and external audits to maintain compliance and address any discrepancies associated with materials management processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with core operations, supply chain management, operational excellence, quality, distribution and logistics and CoE solid dose functions to ensure seamless collaboration across all functions for all financial processes;
- This role works closely with all functions to generate ideas and promote sustainable cost savings measures for the site and distribution centers;
- Partner with Project Management and drives the strategy together for new product costing process;
- Work closely with other CH Product supply internal sites controllers and develop best practices within financial processes;
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with regional and corporate controlling functions
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field;
- Demonstrated VACC skills leading teams and multi-functional team collaboration.
- Excellent understanding of financial processes, cost control and financial analysis in a complex manufacturing and Supply Chain Management with multifunctional and deep experience of manufacturing in the consumer and/or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems including SAP Financial modules.
- Ability to align financial strategies with business objectives and drive long-term financial planning.
- Attention to Details and ensure accuracy and precision in financial reporting and analysis.
- Ability to adapt to changing business environments and manage multiple priorities. Uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and financial integrity.
- Thorough knowledge of OTC, Nutritional Supplements solid dosage & liquid manufacturing and packaging operations.
- Experience in successful organizational transformation and change management initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership/facilitation, decision making, process management, analytical skills, negotiating and conflict management skills, risk management, effectively communicate with all levels of an organization, and influencing/strategic planning.
- Demonstrated experience in financial processes E2E innovation solutions leveraging analytics and digitization with continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong understanding of legal, regulatory and GMP requirements in an OTC drug and/or nutritional supplement environment, department governance, innovation and prioritization management experience with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional people leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with all levels of the organization and external partners to concisely influence executive leadership peers.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Multi-functional progressive experience in financial management or production accounting within plant operations including cost accounting, budgeting, capital review, and auditing is preferred;
- 8 plus year experience with Master’s degree or 10 plus year with Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
